What benefits to expect when you stay at Story Hotel Signalfabriken as a World of Hyatt Globalist member?
Story Hotel Signalfabriken opened in 2014 with a total of 83 rooms.
This is currently a Category 1 World of Hyatt property requiring 3,500 to 6,500 points per night. Staying in this property is one of the best ways to redeem your Hyatt points.

If you do not have Hyatt points, you’ll be happy to know that purchasing the points is cheaper than paying the usual cash rate, regardless of membership status!
Aim for “off-peak” nights to stay in this property for just 3,500 points. The easiest way to find those off-peak nights is by looking at the points calendar.
Location
The hotel is located Sundbyberg, Sweden and is well-connected to Stockholm by train.
The Arlanda Express train ticket from Stockholm city centre to the airport is very expensive at SEK 299 (US$31) per person. My partner and I travelled by Uber from the hotel to the airport for SEK 393 (US$41). Uber is easily the better option if you are not travelling alone.
There were 4 supermarkets within walking distance and some restaurants in the area.
- 6 mins walk to Sundbyberg train station
- 12 mins train to Stockholm city centre
- 25 mins drive to Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN)
- 1 hr 15 mins to Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN)
Arrival
I had booked the base room on points and as a Globalist member recognition, I was upgraded to the one and only Family Duplex room 2 days before arrival! It was a lovely surprise considering there is only 1 Family Duplex in the property and my stay was 3 nights long.
Family Duplex
Room 406 is 43sqm / 463sqft in size.
There is only 1 room of this category in the hotel and like the other Story hotel in Malmo, the room had industrial-style design.
Check out the video tour of this room on our Instagram page.
Breakfast
Breakfast is complimentary for Globalist members and was served at Phil’s Burger.
As you would expect, there’s nothing exciting about “Continental” breakfasts that are served in most European hotels. I felt that the staff did not pay enough attention to maintain presentation and freshness of the food in the buffet area.
You would probably be happier spending on a Subway sandwich just across the road!
Globalist welcome gift
Globalist members receive a SEK 100 (US$10) F&B voucher per stay. I spent it on a couple of drinks at the bar.
Other facilities
The hotel does not have a swimming pool or a gym. However, guests can get a complimentary pass to a nearby public gym from the reception.
My ratings
This is how I am rating my stay, after considering the hotel’s usual nightly rate (in points):
Breakfast | 6/10 |
Service | 9/10 |
Location | 7/10 |
Room furnishing | 9/10 |
View (from the room) | 9/10 |
Peace & quiet | 10/10 |
Facilities | 7/10 |
Elite member recognition | 10/10 |
Value | 10/10 |
Bottom line
Considering other accommodation prices in Stockholm, this was a high-value stay and a fantastic use of Hyatt points. Getting this kind of upgrade is a great sign that the hotel will always try their best to upgrade Globalist members, even if this particular room is not available.
