What benefits to expect when you stay at Story Hotel Studio Malmo as a World of Hyatt Globalist member?
Story Hotel Studio Malmo opened in 2016 with a total of 95 rooms.
This is currently a Category 1 World of Hyatt property requiring 3,500 to 6,500 points per night. Staying in this property is one of the best ways to redeem your Hyatt points.

If you do not have Hyatt points, you’ll be happy to know that purchasing the points is cheaper than paying the usual cash rate, regardless of membership status!
Aim for “off-peak” nights to stay in this property for just 3,500 points. The easiest way to find those off-peak nights is by looking at the points calendar.
Location
The hotel is located fairly close to Malmo Centralstation. The hotel fills up only the top 4 floors of the building.
After my stay in Venice, I flew to Copenhagen and took the train to Malmo. I didn’t have to clear immigration to cross the Denmark-Sweden border but be ready for random passport checks onboard the train across the iconic Øresund Bridge.
- 7 mins walk to Malmo Centralstation
- 12 mins walk to Malmo city centre
- 30 mins train to Copenhagen Airport (CPH)
- 45 mins train to Copenhagen city centre
- 4 hrs 40 mins train to Stockholm
Arrival
I had booked the base room on points and was upgraded to the Deluxe Corner Room on the highest floor, as a Globalist member.
I asked if the “ocean view” rooms are available but the receptionist assured me that I would enjoy the city view more, especially in the evenings, and I did!
Deluxe Corner Room
Room 1321 is probably 30sqm / 323sqft in size.
The room is not listed on the hotel’s website but looking at the floor plan, I estimate it to be of similar size as the Junior Suite.
The room had industrial-style design.

Breakfast
Breakfast is complimentary for Globalist members and was served at the rooftop Japanese restaurant, Kasai in the Sky.
As you would expect, there’s nothing exciting about “Continental” breakfasts that are served in most European hotels. The waffle machine made the experience a tiny bit better.
The outdoor area offers a great view of the city, for a better experience in summer months.
Globalist welcome gift
Globalist members receive a SEK 100 (US$10) F&B voucher per stay. I spent it on Salmon Nigiri at Kasai in the Sky.
Internet speed
The internet speed was average. Good enough for basic web surfing.
Other facilities
The hotel does not have a swimming pool or a gym. However, guests can get a complimentary pass to a nearby public gym from the reception.
