Review: JW Marriott Jakarta (1 Bedroom Suite)

What benefits to expect when you stay at JW Marriott Jakarta as a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium or Platinum Elite member?

The hotel was built in 2001 with a total of 317 rooms.

As of the time of writing, members will typically need 15,000 to 25,000 points per night for award stays.

Location

The hotel is located in the Mega Kuningan area, a little South off Central Jakarta.

• 25 mins drive to Central Jakarta
• 1 hr drive to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK)

Arrival

Upon arrival, we were assisted with our luggages before being directed to the reception for check-in.

We were assigned to a base Twin Room as there were no larger room available at that time.

However, upon entering the room, we found stains on our bedsheets. We raised the issue to the housekeeping manager, who apologized and asked if we would like to upgrade to the suite room, which will only be available 2 hours later. As there are 3 of us, the staff also agreed to include an additional bed in the room to accommodate all of us!

1 Bedroom Suite

Room 1111 is 84sqm (904sqft) in size.

Like most hotel rooms built in the early 2000s, it felt a little dated, with spotty lighting. However, most importantly, the suite that we got was well-maintained and it didn’t have any mouldy smells.

Twin Room

Room 2515 is 42sqm (452sqft) in size.

As mentioned earlier, we were originally assigned a Twin Room before the upgrade. This smaller room had the same “old” vibe as the suite.

Executive Lounge

Platinum members and above have access to the Executive Lounge all day, with Afternoon Tea and Evening Cocktail being served at specific hours every day.

The lounge is large and offers a great panoramic view of the city. F&B options were very good during my visits.

Afternoon tea

Afternoon tea was served from 2.30pm to 4.30pm daily.

Evening cocktail

Evening cocktail was served from 6pm to 9pm daily. With the good variety and quality, the food offered was enough for dinner.

There is also “Cheese & Dessert” period from 9pm to 11.30pm.

Internet speed

The WiFi speed was good for basic web surfing.

Breakfast

Breakfast is complimentary for Platinum members and above. It was held as a buffet at Sailendra restaurant.

The buffet was extensive and food quality was very good.

Bottom line

JW Marriott Jakarta is over 20 years old and needs a renovation soon, for a more modern furnishing in the rooms.

At its award price point, the food quality that is offered in the Executive Lounge and breakfast was fantastic.
