What benefits to expect when you stay at The Westin Jakarta as a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium or Platinum Elite member?

The hotel was built in 2016 with a total of 256 rooms. It is located on the upper floors of Gama Tower and with the highest floor located on the 69th floor, it is the tallest hotel in Indonesia.

As of the time of writing, members will typically need 15,000 to 25,000 points per night for award stays.

Location

The hotel is located in the Kuningan area, a little South off Central Jakarta.

Arrival

Upon arrival, we were assisted with our luggages before being directed to the reception for check-in.

As there were 3 of us, the hotel could not upgrade the stay, unless if we pay for an additional bed. The receptionist mentioned that she could also upgrade us to a suite, if a rollaway bed is added. However, we later found out that the room that was assigned was not a suite.

Executive Lounge

Platinum members and above have access to the Executive Lounge all day, with the Evening Cocktail being served at specific hours daily.

The lounge is pretty small, but sufficient for a hotel of this size. F&B options were good during my visits but it was lacking in variety.

The hotel’s lounge policy is very strict. According to Marriott Bonvoy’s T&Cs, the lounge benefit for Platinum members and above is limited to only 2 guests per room. As there were 3 of us, the hotel wanted to charge an additional fee (per day) for the 3rd guest, with no exception possible. We decided to spend the next evening elsewhere.

Internet speed

The WiFi speed was great during my stay.

Breakfast

Breakfast is complimentary for Platinum members and above. It was held as a buffet at Seasonal Tastes restaurant.

The buffet was extensive and food quality was very good.

In line with the hotel’s rigorous policies, we saw a few guests getting turned away, as they had the room slippers on.

Other facilities

The swimming pool is located indoors, with low ceiling and large pillars.

However, the wellness area located near it includes a jacuzzi and sauna, providing a pleasant space for relaxation!

The hotel’s gym is large, with well-maintained equipments.

Bottom line

While The Westin Jakarta is undoubtedly a nice hotel, it falls short in terms of its stringent rules and robotic service. It certainly didn’t deliver the famous Indonesian hospitality that we are accustomed to.

We actually enjoyed our stay at the older JW Marriott Jakarta more!
