Getting there

The Private Room is located on the 3rd floor in Terminal 3, near other Silverkris lounges. You will find escalators to it near Longchamp and Luvenus, after passing through immigration.

General areas

Unlike other massive First Class lounges that you will find in Doha, Hong Kong and Dubai, The Private Room, as the name suggests, is a lot smaller and felt a lot more private, at least in the early mornings.

Design was modern and elegant with much-welcomed tech-friendly additions like wireless chargers, universal power ports and high-speed USB ports.

I much prefer airport lounges with natural light and a view of the runway/apron but it seems like Changi Airport Terminal 3, which opened in 2008, wasn’t originally designed for impressive, world-class lounges. I am confident that the under-construction Terminal 5, targeted to open in mid-2030s, will change that.

Nap room

There are 2 single-occupancy nap rooms in the lounge, equipped with remote-controlled Tempur Zero Gravity beds. Visitors can book one for up to 2 hours. My partner and I took a room each upon arrival from our long haul flight.

Our body clocks were still in European time (1am) and we truly enjoyed the nap to ease the jet lag.

As we were leaving the nap rooms, the kind staff asked if we would like to book a further 2 hours, as there were no other guests around. Great to know that this is a possibility!

Dining in The Private Room

Visitors can dine at the restaurant which offers an a la carte menu with the following meal timings:

  • Breakfast: 5.30am to 11am
  • Lunch: 11am – 6pm
  • Dinner: 6pm to 2.30am

I only tried food from the breakfast menu during both visits. Presentation and taste was great!

Our breakfast: Dim Sum, Roti Prata and Laksa with Lobster

On one visit, I asked if it was possible to have a whole lobster (instead of half) with my Laksa and the staff quickly said yes!

Bottom line

After the completion of lengthy renovation works, Singapore Airlines The Private Room has finally reopened. It is a quiet, private space available exclusively to the airline’s First Class passengers, with good à la carte dining options.

However, there is no hiding the fact that there is nothing truly impressive about this lounge. No natural light, no view of the runway, no spa, or even fun gimmicks like arcade rooms and cabanas.

Until the new terminal is completed, over a decade from now, this is the best lounge that Singapore Airlines has to offer.

  1. hi if you have checked luggage upon arrival but want to relax in the private room, how is your luggage handled? worried about it being misplaced / taken if I am not there to get it.

  2. Can you come and go from the private room if you have a 15hour layover and then the next leg is in business class as that’s all they offer. I want to shower and have breakfast etc then go visit the jewel and do some shopping before heading back to the lounge for dinner and next flight.
Or do I have to use the business class lounge in the evening.

  3. Hi, can you visit the first class lounge even if you are not connecting at Singapore…Singapore is our final destination? Also, we’ve booked through Lufthansa Airlines but we are flying on Singapore Airlines a380 from Frankfurt to Singapore…should we still be able to access the lounge once we land in Singapore

    • Hi Matt, you should still be able to access the lounge upon arrival in SIN. If you have checked baggage, get in touch with the lounge staff to let them know.
