What benefits to expect when you stay at Andaz Abu Dhabi as a World of Hyatt Globalist member?
The hotel opened in 2018 with a total of 188 rooms.
This Category 2 World of Hyatt property requires 6,500 to 9,500 points per night for award stays and is one of the best ways to redeem your Hyatt points!

If you do not have Hyatt points, you’ll be happy to know that purchasing the points is cheaper than paying the usual cash rate, regardless of membership status!
Pro tip: Aim for “off-peak” nights to stay in this property for just 6,500 points. The easiest way to find those off-peak nights is by looking at the points calendar.
I booked a 2-night stay at this property almost a year in advance, when Formula 1’s 2022 race calendar was released.
I then called World of Hyatt to apply a Suite Upgrade Award (SUA) for this stay. Unlike Marriott Bonvoy’s Suite Night Awards, Hyatt’s SUAs can be confirmed immediately, as long as there is availability! On top of that, 1 SUA can be used for up to 7 nights per stay!
Location
The hotel is located in the Capital Gate area, next to Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
- 20 mins drive to Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH)
- 25 mins to Yas Marina Circuit and Ferrari World
Arrival
I could see the beautiful Capital Gate building from a distance. It holds the Guinness World Record for the furthest leaning manmade tower.
The beautiful lobby is located on the 18th floor and having arrived early, at 12.30pm, I had to wait about 15 minutes for the room to be ready. I was also granted a 4pm late checkout!
Capital Suite
Room 2918 is 70sqm/753sqft in size.
The Capital Suite can be regarded as a “Junior Suite” as it is on the small side. While the view from the living room is wonderful, the bedroom, sadly, does not have any natural light.
Check out the video tour of this room on our Instagram page.
Internet speed
The WiFi speed was alright for light internet surfing.
Breakfast
Breakfast is complimentary for Globalist members. It was held as a buffet at Cyan restaurant.
Non-Elite members may also receive complimentary breakfast (+US$50 credit) when booking through Hyatt Privé!
Related: Using Hyatt Privé to your advantage
Guests can order a dish from the à la carte menu and also enjoy food from the buffet. Food quality was very good for a Category 2 Hyatt hotel.
Other facilities
The hotel features an infinity swimming pool with an unblocked view of the city and the Persian Gulf.
Located near the pool, the large gym is well-equipped and has a great view too.
My ratings
This is how I am rating my stay, after considering what I paid:
Breakfast | 10/10 |
Service | 10/10 |
Location | 8/10 |
Room furnishing | 9/10 |
View (from the room) | 9/10 |
Peace & quiet | 10/10 |
Facilities | 10/10 |
Elite member recognition | 10/10 |
Value | 10/10 |
Bottom line
Andaz Abu Dhabi is a beautiful hotel with great breakfast, elite member recognition. If you are a Hyatt Globalist member or booking through Hyatt Privé, it would be really hard to find another high-value option in Abu Dhabi.
It was a real steal to redeem just 6,500 points nightly during the Formula 1 weekend, when top hotels in the area are all sold out! And this hotel survived the recent round of Hyatt devaluations.
