Using Hyatt Privé to your advantage

Since World of Hyatt announced the ongoing promotion that allows members to get Hyatt Globalist Status with only 15 nights, I have been digging deeper into the program to find out more about the lesser-known benefits and how they handle BRG claims.

As a normal member, I found that Hyatt Prive is not getting enough attention with all the additional benefits that it offers.

What is Hyatt Privé?

Hyatt Privé was launched in 2018. It is very much like the more popular program, Virtuoso, where guests receive additional benefits in luxury hotels on top of usual member benefits like points, club lounge access and elite nights.

What are Hyatt Privé benefits?

Booking a Hyatt Privé rate gives you the following additional benefits:

  1. Complimentary breakfast for 2 guests daily
  2. Complimentary room upgrade
  3. US$25 to US$100 credit per stay (depending on property)
  4. Welcome amenity
  5. Priority early check-in and late check-out

You WILL get usual World of Hyatt benefits, points and nights when booking Hyatt Prive rates.

Participating hotels

While Virtuoso covers luxury hotels across multiple hotel loyalty programs, Hyatt Privé, of course, only covers properties under the World of Hyatt program.

Participating Hyatt Privé brands are:

  1. Park Hyatt (all)
  2. Andaz (all)
  3. Grand Hyatt (selected)
  4. Alila (selected)
  5. Hyatt Regency (selected)

On top of the 5 brands above, limited properties from Thompson Hotels, Hyatt, Miraval, The Unbound Collection and Joie de Vivre are participating in the program.

Click here for the full list of participating hotels.

You may have noticed that lower-end brands like Hyatt Place and Hyatt House are not participating brands.

Minimum number of nights

Booking a Hyatt Privé rate requires a minimum number of nights, depending on the brand.

  • Park Hyatt & Andaz: 1 night
  • Others: 2 nights

Reminder: A stay is defined as consecutive nights spent in the same hotel. For example, you will not receive 2x US$100 property credits even if you book back-to-back nights in the same proeprty.

How to check and book Hyatt Privé rates?

Hyatt Privé rates are usually the standard/flexible rate listed on hyatt.com. The bad thing about this is it will cost more than the lowest/prepaid rate. The good thing is Hyatt Privé benefits usually make up for the difference, especially if you are not a Hyatt Globalist member.

To book a Hyatt Privé rate, you will have to get in touch with a Hyatt Privé Travel Advisor. I’ve gotten in touch with many travel advisors and highly recommend Intriq Journey for their responsive and friendly service.

Your stay will not be prepaid and you will have free cancellation (like a usual flexible rate).

3rd or 4th night free in some properties

Occasionally, some properties offer 3rd or 4th night free, as shared on Flyertalk forum. Be sure to check if the property that you are planning to stay in has a special offer.

I am considering the 3rd night free offer at Grand Hyatt Dubai. With this offer, 3 nights at this hotel with all Hyatt Privé benefits would only cost me S$304 nett!

Bottom line

If you are a Hyatt Globalist, you would receive room upgrades and breakfast anyway. The only real benefit on top of those 2 is the property credit. In more expensive properties, it just wouldn’t make sense to pay for a fully flexible rate if the lowest rate costs a lot less.

However, if you are a normal member like me, you have to at least consider booking a Hyatt Privé rate on your next Hyatt stay!
