Review: SilverKris Lounge Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3 (Pre-Renovation)

Opening Hours: 24 hours
Time of visit: 0715 hours
Occupancy: 70%
Entry type: Free via Singapore Airlines Business Class boarding pass

Disclaimer: Photos in this review do not show the occupancy upon arrival. I often wait for each area to have as little people around as possible to show the furnishings and also to respect guests’ privacy.

SilverKris Lounge in Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3 is located near gates A and the Skytrain connecting Terminal 2. The only way to access this lounge is with an onward Business Class ticket from Singapore Airlines or any Star Alliance airlines.

This was the start of my 2-days joy ride to London in Singapore Airlines Business Class. It was also at the beginning of travel restrictions and Stay-Home notice measures from Singapore and other countries because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Checking into this lounge is always a breeze as the staff are often standing at the entrance to have a look at your boarding pass. At 70%, the occupancy was way more than I expected, considering the travel bans all around. This lounge is often close to 90% occupancy during my last few visits.

Dining

The buffet spread in this lounge offers a mix of different cuisines and also a manned Laksa station. Food quality is good.

Conclusion

Nothing beats an airport lounge overlooking the runway. It’s a pity that none of Singapore Airlines lounges, even the exclusive First Class The Private Room, offers that. For everything else, this is a decent Business Class lounge. Upgrading works are underway at these lounges and are targeted to complete by mid-2021 with a much needed 30% increase in capacity. However, I can imagine this being pushed forward because of the current Covid-19 situation.
