The Ritz-Carlton, Bali opened in 2015 with 313 guest rooms. It is a Category 6 Marriott Bonvoy property requiring 40,000 to 60,000 points per night for award stays.
Location
The hotel is located in Nusa Dua, a quiet area in south-eastern Bali. The long stretch of beach in this area is mostly connected to 5-star hotels like The Westin, Hilton and Grand Hyatt. It is less crowded (as compared to Seminyak beach) as it faces East (no sunset view). That’s not a bad thing as it is usually very quiet; perfect for evening walks/runs/cycles.

Arrival
Virtuoso rates at this hotel includes one-way airport transfer. Since I wasn’t arriving from the airport, I asked if the hotel can pick me up from Grand Hyatt Bali instead, and they said yes!
Upon arrival, we had our temperatures taken and were assisted with our luggages before being directed to the reception.
I had booked the base room, Sawangan Junior Suite, and was pre-upgraded to the Pool Pavilion Villa two days before arrival! Although Virtuoso rates at this property include “upgrade upon arrival”, I wasn’t expecting a 4-category upgrade, even as a Titanium Elite member. This is because The Ritz-Carlton, as a brand, is not required to offer upgrade benefits for Marriott Bonvoy members.
Because of the distance, we were offered buggy service to get to the villa.
Pool Pavilion Villa
Villa 7303 is 120sqm / 1291sqft in size.
It was beautiful! There’s indoor and outdoor showers, outdoor bathtub, automatic toilet and a beautiful private pool. The villa is strategically surrounded by plants to provide excellent privacy.
6% mark-up on currency exchange
It is disappointing that the hotel has its own exchange rate that is applied to all currency conversions. I required 2 currency conversions, one for the resort credit and another for using my Marriott eGiftCard. A sneaky 6% markup was added to both conversions.
I inquired about this and was told that it was “just the hotel’s policy”. Oh well.
In-room dining
I used my USD 100 resort credit only for in-room dining during this 1-night stay. I would have used it on the club lounge but it was closed during my stay.
Although I can receive 20% discount only on restaurant dining, dishes in the in-room dining menu were slightly cheaper.
Breakfast
Breakfast is complimentary for Virtuoso or STARS bookings at this property. It is held from 7am to 10.30am at The Beach Grill restaurant.

Swimming pool and beach
Like other hotels along Nusa Dua beach, the swimming pool is located right by the beach. The beach was very clean and quiet.

Bottom line
This was another flawless stay in Bali where I received outstanding value out of a Virtuoso / STARS rate. I enjoyed a 4pm late check-out and during check out, a hotel staff handed me a parting gift (room scent), which I enjoyed through my 2-week stay at Courtyard by Marriott Bali Seminyak!

Every time when I am is scrolling down the page, the new image / photo always takes 1 to 2 second to load. This quite annoying especially your blog is image intensive. Probably can do something to enhance the performance. Thanks for all the travel hack and tips
Thank you for the suggestion. I’ve enabled “lazy loading” to improve page load speed because, as you’ve noticed, the blog is image-intensive. I do find the delayed loading of images annoying too. Will see if I can improve the experience. 🙂
