Redemption opportunities to consider

Let’s start with the bad news. Unfortunately, Turkish Airlines have removed Business Class award availability entirely for flights between Singapore and Europe.

However, there are still plenty of ways to use Miles&Smiles miles, as a Singapore-based traveller:

• Economy Class awards, from Singapore to anywhere, can be found easily
• Business Class awards, from Singapore to non-European destinations, can be found easily
• Business Class awards, from Jakarta/Manila/Ho Chi Minh/Hanoi to Europe can be found fairly easily

Turkish Airlines gives you access to a number of Central Asian cities, like those in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, as well as plenty of Eastern European cities.

As much as possible, you’ll want to book flights on Boeing 787 or Airbus A350 aircrafts (with newer seats), instead of on Boeing 777 aircrafts (with older seats).

Is this a good deal?

Absolutely.

Even with the fuel surcharges, this is a fantastic opportunity to fly from Far East Asia to Europe and Central Asia for as little as 21k miles, plus S$183 in taxes/fees (if you’re departing from Singapore in Economy Class).

How to earn Turkish Airlines miles?

If you are based in Singapore, only Citibank cards have Miles&Smiles as a transfer partner (with a good conversion ratio).

In my experience, miles/points conversion from Citi cards to Miles&Smiles take 2 to 3 calendar days. So, be sure to plan early!

Reminder: When deciding between cards with similar earn rates, always pick Citi cards for better transfer flexibility in future and longer points validity.
