Best ways to redeem Avios

In my experience, Qatar Airways has the best seat and overall Business Class experience.

Additional note: Qatar Airways does not pass on fuel surcharges for award bookings on its own flights but the airline has recently started charging an additional “booking fee” per segment. This means that you will be paying around S$150 per segment, depending on class and route.

Avios are good for the following redemptions for Qatar Airways flights:

Should you convert credit card miles/points to Avios?

The usual rule-of-thumb applies: Only convert your miles/points if you have plans to use them in the near future.

If you already have plans to fly in the Qatar Airways Business Class in the coming months, this is a no-brainer. Be sure to check for award availability on qatarairways.com before committing.

Also, remember that Qatar Airways Avios can now be transferred to British Airways Executive Club at a 1:1 ratio.

Bottom line

Qatar Airways is offering members 30% bonus Avios on credit card miles/points conversions. This is a great time to burn those miles/points from your Citi cards!

Take note that this offer is ending on 15 Nov 2022. Convert your credit card miles/points by 5 Nov 2022 to be extra safe.

    • You are right. I do not see any availability for QR J in 2023 for any city pairings between Europe and Asia. Hope it’s just a temporary glitch.

  2. Thanks for the heads up on this offer!

How do you find QR’s redemption availability for J generally? Using SIN-DOH-LHR as an example, the only availability I’m seeing are flexi awards around a bunch of dates I want to travel at, which cost 142k Avios miles instead of 75k…

Further, their “more dates” monthly calendar shows literally everyday as being a flexi award, but when you click in some of those flexi awards are for Y but J ‘saver’ awards could be available. Is there a quicker way to search for ‘saver’ (non-flexi) J awards without having to check day by day?

    Thank you!

    • Hi Zach, a quicker way to search for QR’s award availability is with the calendar view on aa.com. I agree that the calendar view function on QR’s website is pretty much useless.
