What benefits to expect when you stay at Sheraton Bali Kuta as a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium or Platinum Elite member?
Sheraton Bali Kuta opened in 2012 with a total of 203 rooms. It is a Category 5 Marriott Bonvoy property requiring 30,000 to 40,000 points per night for award stays.

Location
The hotel is located in the touristy area of Kuta. In non-COVID times, be prepared to be swarmed by taxi touts outside the hotel. Get a Grab Car or GoCar from the hotel lobby to avoid them.
This hotel is directly connected to Beachwalk Shopping Center. This largely contributes to the high nightly rates that the property is charging, as compared to other hotels in Bali.
While some may see this as a hotel in a great location, I do not. Kuta is probably the least authentic area in Bali and full of tourist traps in non-pandemic times.

- 1 hr 5 mins drive to Ubud Town
Arrival
Upon arrival, we had our temperatures taken and were assisted with our luggages before being directed to the reception.
I had booked the base room and was pre-upgraded to the Ocean Front Suite a day before arrival.
Ocean Front Suite
Room 4011 is 100sqm / 1,076sqft in size.
View from the suite was fantastic. I’ve travelled on the popular street below many times over the years and it was nice to see how the street and beach look like from a higher viewpoint.
Room furnishing wasn’t great. Furnitures looked old and there wasn’t a coffee machine in the suite. But with that view, I can easily let that go, especially when I am paying about 60% off pre-pandemic rates!
There was also substantial noise from the street below throughout the day and late into the night.

Sweet treat at The Lounge
Marriott resorts are not required to offer club lounge benefits. Unlike elite members of World of Hyatt and Hilton Honors, Marriott Bonvoy Platinum members and above do not get to experience complimentary club benefits in Bali, although there are over 20 properties on this island!
This hotel is offering a little extra, nonetheless. This is similar to what The Westin Nusa Dua offers.
Platinum members and above receive a voucher that can be redeemed for a “Sweet treat” at The Lounge. This voucher can be exchanged for 1 drink per guests + 1 sweet treat per guest. I did not have a choice of the type of sweet treat that I would like.
Breakfast
Breakfast is complimentary for Platinum members and above and was served as à la carte buffet at the poolside restaurant, Bene Italian Kitchen, from 6.30am to 10.30am.
We had the option of having breakfast sent to the suite and went for that!

Bottom line
It was a good stay in a tourist hotspot. However, this hotel would be really meh when you are paying 2 to 3 times more in non-pandemic times. There are over 20 amazing Marriott Bonvoy hotels in Bali!
