Citi PremierMiles 4 mpd offer

• Earn +2 miles per dollar (total 4 mpd) on overseas Point-of-Sale (in-person) transactions in foreign currency
• Offer runs from 1 November 2023 to 31 January 2024
• Minimum spend: S$5,000 per calendar month (any spending)
• Maximum spend: S$5,000 per calendar month (10k bonus miles)
• Bonus miles will be credited within 3 months after the qualifying month
• Cardholders do not need to participate every single month (e.g. Meet minimum spend only in December, if you are only travelling in that month)

This card gives you an uncapped earn rate of 1.2 miles per dollar on SGD spending and 2 miles per dollar on foreign currency spending.

This is a great backup card, if you have exhausted all your specialized cards with better earn rates.

Having many transfer partners and miles that do not expire gives you fantastic flexibility. Because of these 2 key factors, I recommend this card more than other general spending cards with slightly higher earn rates.

Cardholders are also entitled to 2 free airport lounge visits (via Priority Pass) per calendar year! For example, if you apply for the card in March 2023, you will get 2 free visits for the current year, plus 2 more free visits from 1 January the following year.

Bottom line

Miles earned on Citi PremierMiles and Prestige cards are ultra-flexible, as they can be transferred to many frequent flyer programs and do not expire.

However, these offers do not encourage me to put more spending on those cards. These are okaaay offers, if you foresee meeting the minimum spending requirements easily in the coming months.

Remember: You will be charged 3.25% foreign currency fees on Citi cards.

Otherwise, the conditions of these offers are quite a turn-off, especially when you know that the Standard Chartered Journey card gives you an uncapped earn rate of 2 mpd + 3.5% foreign currency fee rebate, with no minimum spending requirement, with any type of foreign currency spending, in November and December 2023.

You do not get into the Miles Game to chase minimum spending requirements, leave that to the cashback people! Worry about award availability instead. 😝😭
