How to earn Miles on Airbnb bookings

Aside from the rare occasional promos, it is pretty much impossible to earn cashback on Airbnb bookings through shopping portals like ShopBack and TopCashback. However, it is still possible to earn miles!

Key points to note

  • Sign up for a (free) frequent flyer account to start earning miles
  • Your name on Airbnb must match the name on your frequent flyer account
  • Click through a dedicated link from any frequent flyer program below, before completing your booking on Airbnb

British Airways Executive Club

British Airways Executive Club members can earn 3 Avios per US Dollar on Airbnb bookings. This converts to about 2.2 Avios/miles per SGD.

If you are based in Singapore, BA’s Executive Club is the obvious choice because it is a transfer partner of Citibank and Avios can be transferred to Qatar Airways Privilege Club (which is also a transfer partner of Citibank).

You need just 75,000 Avios + ~S$300 cash to fly in Qatar Airways Business Class between Singapore and Europe. And if you are heading to Paris, about half your journey can be in First Class at no additional cost!

On top of that, Executive Club gives you the most amount of miles, compared to the other 2 Frequent Flyer Programs below.

Qantas Frequent Flyer

Qantas Frequent Flyer rewards members with 1 mile per Australian Dollar spent on Airbnb. This converts to about 1 mile per SGD.

Although Qantas is a partner of Citibank Singapore, the frequent flyer program doesn’t offer many good value redemption opportunities, especially if you are based in Singapore.

The only good redemption is probably between Singapore and Sydney in Business for 68,400 miles and First for 102,600 miles. However, it is very difficult to find availability.

Delta SkyMiles

Delta SkyMiles rewards members with 1 mile per US Dollar spent on Airbnb. This converts to about 0.7 miles per SGD.

Delta SkyMiles do not expire but it is not a transfer partner of any Singapore cards.

The best way to use SkyMiles is for domestic US flights in Basic Economy for about 5,000 miles.
