Long layover warning
Yes, there’s a catch.
Take note that some flights, especially from the Australian cities to Manila, have long layovers (>12 hours). Please check the latest border entry rules, if you would like to visit the city for a day.
The Business Class seat
Philippine Airlines has a few types of Business Class seats.
Airbus A330-300 seats (best)
The airline is flying this latest Business Class seats on wide-body Airbus A330-300 aircrafts between Manila and Melbourne/Sydney.
Check out this YouTube video review of this seat type.
To double-check if you are getting this new seat, check that you will be flying in an Airbus A330-300 with only 5 rows in Business Class (see seat map below).

Airbus A321neo
The airline is flying this aircraft to Kuala Lumpur and Brisbane. It is not a bad option for the segments between Kuala Lumpur and Manila but you should avoid Brisbane if you want the better seats above.

Boeing 737-800
The airline is flying this aircraft to Kuala Lumpur on some dates. It has almost identical seats to those that you would find in the Airbus A321.
Best seats
As mentioned above, aim for the A330-300s flying to Melbourne and Sydney. If you would like to have more privacy and sit right by the window, choose the window seats in row 2 or 4 (2A, 2K, 4A, 4K).
Where to credit
These promotional fares book into fare class “I”. Unfortunately, you can only credit these flights to All Nippon Airways Mileage Club and Philippine Airlines Mabuhay Miles.
I recommend crediting them to ANA’s Mileage Club. With a 125% accrual, you will be getting about 22,000 miles.
ANA miles are great for the following Business Class redemptions:
- Asia to USA for 100k miles roundtrip
- Asia to Europe for 105k miles roundtrip
Do note that the rates above are for “low-season” travel. Click here for more details on how to redeem ANA miles.
If you do not have a credit card that can be transferred to ANA, the easiest way to accummulate ANA miles is by buying Marriott Bonvoy points when there is a sale and transfering them to ANA. 60,000 Marriott points can be converted to 25,000 ANA miles.
