What benefits to expect when you stay at Hotel Majapahit Surabaya as an Accor Platinum member?

Hotel Majapahit Surabaya opened in 1910 by the son of one of the Sarkies brothers (same guys who opened Raffles Hotel in Singapore).

This hotel was originally named Hotel Oranje, before being renamed to Hotel Majapahit in 1969 and then Mandarin Oriental Hotel Majapahit in 1996 after its last major renovation. Mandarin Oriental group then sold the hotel to CCM Group in 2006 and renamed it back to Hotel Majapahit.

The property now has a total of 139 rooms.

Arrival

Upon arrival, we had our temperatures taken and were assisted with our luggages before being directed to the reception.

I had booked the base room and was upgraded by 1 category, to the Heritage Suite, upon arrival.

Heritage Suite

Room 041 is 57sqm / 614sqft in size.

The suite is located on the ground floor, in the furthest building from the lobby (about 3 mins walk from the lobby).

The room is very clean and the classic furnitures are in good condition. Considering what I paid, I was pleasantly surprised by this!

Breakfast

Breakfast is complimentary for Platinum members and above and was served as semi-buffet at Indigo Restaurant, from 6.30am to 10am.

The buffet spread was great for a hotel at this price point. Hot food was made-to-order and I could pick between eggs, rice and noodle dishes.

Bottom line

It was a fantastic stay in a historical, Dutch colonial hotel and I still can’t believe what I paid! Definitely check this place out if you are in the area, before it undergoes another major renovation and increases the nightly rate by 10 or 20 times.
