Arrival

Upon arrival, we had our temperatures taken and were assisted with our luggages before being directed to the reception.

I had booked the base room (Deluxe Suite) and was pre-upgraded to the Ocean View Suite 2 days before arrival. It is the smallest room in the hotel but offers a great view of the ocean, as the name suggests.

There were lots of greenery along the corridors. The lift was very close to pitch-black inside. So dark that I had trouble looking for the buttons to the floor that I intended to go to.

The room (Ocean View Suite)

Room 132 is 60sqm / 710sqft in size.

The room had a minimalist feel which I really liked!

What I did not like was the small TV and poor built quality of the door that did not have a soft-close feature. This results in door-slamming sounds from other rooms all day long. The housekeepers were also going in and out of rooms and slamming doors multiple times while cleaning each room. It definitely took away a lot of peace that I was expecting to enjoy during this stay.

This was also the first time that I did not receive a welcome note since becoming a Globalist member.

Best rooms

In general, I always request for a room on the highest floor possible and it must not be a connecting room (for less noise).

I was told that the southern-most swimming pool is very private as it is only open to in-house guests. The northern-most pool serves as a family pool and the one located on the lower floor is open to members of the public who have purchased pool passes.

Breakfast

Breakfast is complimentary for Globalist members and was served as à la carte buffet at Seasalt restaurant.

Food was good but not better than what I had at Aloft Seminyak where rooms usually cost 10 times less!

Service wasn’t good either. Although there was only 4 other tables occupied, we had to wait about 10 minutes for someone to take our order. Waiters were unfriendly too.

Other facilities

As mentioned above, there are 3 swimming pools in this property. The ones with the best view are the 2 located on higher grounds (northern-most and southern-most). There was security at the pool near my room who was overly protective of the area. He would ask “yes? can I help you?’“ every time I walked to the pool.

The gym was large and well-equipped.

Ratings

Breakfast: 7/10
Service: 7/10
Location: 9/10
Room: 8/10
Facilities: 8/10
Elite member recognition: 7/10
Value (for what I paid): 6/10

Bottom line

I am still puzzled how this hotel is charging S$366 in times like these. Unless if you value the view and infinity pool that much, there is no way this property is worth that price tag, especially with weak service, hardware and breakfast. W Bali – Seminyak, just next door, offers far better value.
