What benefits to expect when you stay at Avani Seminyak Bali Resort as a GHA Discovery Titanium member?
Avani Seminyak Bali Resort opened in 2020 as a rebranded hotel after some renovation works. This all-villa property was originally built in 2012 under the name Anantara Vacation Club Bali Seminyak.
The hotel was closed within weeks of its opening, because of the pandemic, and only re-opened on 1 June 2021, one day before my stay.
Since the rebranding, a new building of modern suites was built. The building was still closed during my stay but it is now available for booking, at the time of writing.
PRO TIP: Always check the rates of GHA Discovery hotels on the brand’s official website. A lot of times, you will find a lower rate than what’s on discoveryloyalty.com.
Location
The hotel is located in Seminyak.
- 5 mins drive to Seminyak Beach
- 5 mins drive to Seminyak Square
- 20 mins drive to Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS)
- 1 hr drive to Ubud Town
Arrival
Upon arrival, we had our temperatures taken and were assisted with our luggages before being directed to the reception.
I had booked the base room (1 Bedroom Villa) and was upgraded to the 2 Bedroom Villa upon arrival as a GHA Discovery Black member.
2 Bedroom Pool Villa
Villa 1202 is 253sqm / 2723sqft in size.
As the numbers suggest, this villa is huge! For a newly re-opened property, it was clean well-maintained. I enjoyed the long private pool too.
What I disliked was the lack of a proper work desk, choppy internet and the fact that nobody ran water from all the taps after closing for over a year. There was smelly, cloudy water coming out from the showers, bathtub and sink faucets.
The television in the bedroom was small and placed at an odd angle.

Breakfast
Unlike other, more rewarding hotel loyalty programs, GHA Discovery‘s top-tier members are not automatically entitled to complimentary breakfast.
However, the rate that I’ve booked has breakfast included. Breakfast was served as à la carte buffet at Groove restaurant from 7am to 11am.
I had the option of having breakfast sent to my room and went for it throughout my stay. Food quality was good and delivery was always on time.
Other facilities
The gym was the property’s weakest point. It was tiny and there was only 1 dysfunctional treadmill that made loud noises at speeds above 7 km/h. There was also a weights section (not in the photo below).
The property has complimentary self-service laundry with detergent included.

Bottom line
Believe it or not, I’d made multiple bookings at this property for a total stay duration of 20+ nights but ended up cancelling the remaining nights.
Although paying that amount for a 2 bedroom villa was a complete steal, there wasn’t a proper work desk for a comfortable long stay. I could only use my computer on the dining table. The poor quality gym and choppy internet made it very difficult to make this place my home for anything longer than 2 to 3 days.
Very good deal if you’re in a 100% holiday mood and do not want to work out. It just wasn’t a good fit for me.
