Review: Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit (Executive Suite)

Nightly rate: THB 2,000 nett (S$88)
Length of stay: 14 nights
Date of stay: Mar 2021
Membership level: Globalist

Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit opened in Dec 2018 with 273 rooms in 28 floors.

I got in touch with a number of Hyatt, Marriott and Hilton hotels to check if they could offer a special rate for a 2-week stay. Most did not offer anything less than what was being offered through direct booking channels, while some offered very small discounts of about 5%. Hyatt Regency was the only one that came back with a huge discount (45%) off the rates on hyatt.com.

This special rate of THB 2,000 nett was eligible for World of Hyatt points and tier nights, which was fantastic for me. Because of Hyatt’s Bonus Journey offer that ran till late February, I requested to split my reservation into 2 so that I could check out on 28 Feb, in order for 2X nights and 3X points to post correctly.

Location

The hotel is one of many that are located along Bangkok’s Sukhumvit Road.

  • 3 mins walk to Nana BTS station

  • 10 mins walk to Sukhumvit Metro Station

  • 30 mins drive to Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK)

There was a self-service laundry shop called That Laundry Shop about 6 mins walk from the hotel. Self-service laundry costed just THB 160 for wash, dry, detergent and softener.

Arrival

Upon arrival, we had our temperatures taken and were assisted with our luggages before being directed to the reception.

This was my first stay as a Globalist member and I was upgraded to the Executive Suite!

The room (Executive Suite)

Room 2206 is 77sqm / 829sqft in size. This suite is located right on the corner of the 22nd floor and offers a great panoramic view of the city and even the sunset!

The curtains can be controlled electronically.

I received a basket of fruits upon arrival and on the 4th day of each stay.

Best rooms

In general, I always ask for a room on the highest floor possible and it must not be a connecting room (less noise).

Request for a west-facing room for better views.

Regency Club Lounge

Globalist members have access to the club lounge on level 27. Breakfast wasn’t served here while I was there because of extremely low occupancy. Happy hour was from 5.30pm to 7.30pm and food quality was great every day.

Breakfast

Breakfast is complimentary for Globalist and was served at Market Cafe as à la carte buffet from 7am to 10.30am on weekdays and 7am to 11am on weekends.

Food quality was very good. The staff memorized how I liked my omelette and fresh juice by the 5th day!

Other facilities

There were plenty of pool chairs all around the swimming pool but there wasn’t much of a view as it was located on a low floor. There was a steam room near the pool.

The gym was located near the pool as well and was well-equipped with new machines.

As a value traveller, I enjoyed this stay the most from the 6 properties in Bangkok that I stayed in during this pandemic. Fantastic value for the all-round quality that I received.
