Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown officially launched exactly a year ago, on 2 Dec 2019. Unlike the usual Four Points business hotel, this one boasts beautiful details in its decor to capture the essence of Chinatown — its trade and livelihood of days gone by.

This property is located right beside Merdeka 118, which is the due for completion in 2021 and will be the second tallest building in the world!

Arrival

As the lobby is located on the 7th floor, I was greeted by a hotel staff at the entrance for temperature checks before heading up to check in.

As a Titanium Elite member, I was pre-upgraded to the Premier Suite, guaranteed 4pm late check-out, and a choice between complimentary breakfast for two, 500 points or local gift. On top of those, I was also offered two complimentary drinks at Jann between 5pm – 7pm. All these are applicable to Platinum and Ambassador members as well.

I think it is very generous of the hotel to explicitly offer guaranteed suite upgrades (subject to availability) to Platinum members and above. This immediately makes this hotel a gem for me.

The room

Room 1716 is huge! I could see the Petronas Twin Towers and Menara KL Tower from the room even though they are about 15 minutes’ drive away.

I enjoyed looking at the details in the decor and there is no question that a lot of thought went into it. Not just in the Premier Suite but also in the whole building. Do not expect fine china ornaments or award-winning paintings in your suite but I am sure that you will appreciate how well everything is put together.

The dressing area and bathroom are fairly large too.

Breakfast

Because of the pandemic, reduced breakfast service was held from 7am to 10.30am at Lady Yi’s Tea House near the lobby on the 7th floor. I was offered a simple a la carte menu to choose from. Food quality was just okay.

Jann bar

Jann bar, also on the 7th floor, is quite a favourite among the locals because of its unique decor, cocktails and beautiful view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline.

Wish I had the time to stay longer. Will definitely return the next time I’m in Kuala Lumpur.

The pool

The pool is also located on the 7th floor, right beside Jann. There are washrooms nearby.

The gym

The gym is located on, you guessed it, the 7th floor also! It is right next to the pool. As expected from a new hotel, all equipment looked very new and there are large entertainment displays on the treadmills.

The details

The next time you are here, try spending more time just looking around. Look at the floors, the walls, the ceilings, the furniture etc. There is nothing lazy about the design and decor of this property and I truly appreciated it during my stay.

Bottom line

If you have stayed in Four Points hotels before, you’ll find this one pretty special. I enjoyed my stay here just as much as I did at Four Points Seminyak.
