Great Deal: Stay at Capri by Fraser Changi City for $113 nett

I am finding very attractive room rates for Capri by Fraser – Changi City from January to February 2021. Let’s get straight to it.

How to book

Look for the rate on tripadvisor.com.sg in January or February 2021. Not all dates are available at this price but I am seeing a lot of availability for both months. Even on weekends, CNY and Valentine’s Day! You should see an Agoda rate of $96 reflected in TripAdvisor. This rate excludes taxes and fees and are about 17% lower than other OTAs.

Upon clicking on “view deal”, you will be redirected to Agoda to choose your room type. The lowest rate shown here will be $113. This is the final rate that you will be paying (inclusive of taxes and fees). This is a non-refundable, prepaid rate.

Best Rate Guarantee

If booked directly, the rate that is quoted by Fraser is about $149 nett. Fraser has a Best Rate Guarantee (BRG) program that offers 50% off the competitor’s rate if you find something cheaper than what is listed on their website.

I have not tried BRG with Fraser but it looks like the rate on Agoda via TripAdvisor offers the same cancellation policy. The potential problem is that the rate cannot be booked directly on TripAdvisor and Fraser may see it as a booking through an “affiliate”. As this is a non-refundable rate, you wouldn’t wanna be stuck with paying 32% more!

Which card should you use?

You can find a rate of about $124 nett by using the dedicated link for the 10 MPD DBS deal. Is this the better option? Here’s a quick calculation:

By going through DBS’s dedicated link, you will receive 6 MPD more than the cards listed below. This gives you 678 more miles (worth $13) by paying $11 more. The short answer is you’ll get $2 more value with the DBS link but do you really need more miles right in the middle of a pandemic? I say stick to the awesome rate of $113 nett.
