Deal: Receive a minimum of 10,000 Alaska miles with partner airlines to/from North America

Alaska Airlines is running another promotion that will top up the difference to give you a minimum of 5,000 miles each way for flights between North America and a non-North America destination with partner airlines. This promotion will run from 1 March 2020 till the end of the year. This means that round trip flights from Singapore to North America will get you a minimum of 10,000 miles (worth $220).

After Alaska cut mileage accrual for Qantas flights, the most value-for-money option to fly into USA is in Singapore Airlines Premium Economy, which costs around $1,328 and gives you a total of 17,500 miles (worth $385).

Is this a good deal?

The cheapest round trip Economy flights on Alaska’s partner between Singapore and USA is the long route via Australia on Qantas for $1,009. Unless if you are willing to fly that far to save $300 or are flying to cities other than Los Angeles and San Francisco, you will be better off sticking with Singapore Airlines Premium Economy.

This deal does give you a nice mileage guarantee till the end of the year if you can’t find good prices on Singapore Airlines Premium Economy. Economy flights on Cathay Pacific , Fiji Airways and Korean Air regularly go on sale for around $1,200.

What about the Fiji Airways deal?

I recently wrote about another Alaska Airlines deal offering double miles for flights on Fiji Airways between Fiji and USA. As you will surpass 10,000 miles accrual with that deal, I doubt you will be able to stack it with this one.

Terms to note

Only flights between North America and a non-North America destination will receive a minimum of 5,000 miles each way. This means that if you are not flying direct from Singapore, you will only receive a minimum of 5,000 miles for the leg that is to/from North America.

For example, if you are flying from Singapore to Los Angeles with a stopover in Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific, you will receive a minimum of 5,000 miles for the Hong Kong-Los Angeles flight. This is good news as you will receive a minimum of 400 miles each way for flights between Singapore and Hong Kong.
