Review: Hilton Istanbul Kozyatagi (1 Bedroom Apartment)

Lowest nightly rate: 54 EUR (58 EUR after tax)
When to book: One month in advance (Winter)

Hilton Istanbul Kozyatagi is located about 15km East from Istanbul City Center, across the Bosporus Strait, in the Asian side of Istanbul. It is conveniently located across a large shopping mall which is a 5-minutes walk away. Other than the mall, there is nothing much around. I made the decision to stay here for the night as I had a flight departing from Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW) the following day and just wanted to avoid the chance of getting stuck in traffic in central Istanbul.

Arrival

There was a dedicated check-in desk for Diamond members which was serviced by a grumpy male staff who requires a refresher course on service standards. My room wasn’t ready at the time of arrival (1600 hours) and was told to “wait over there”. I waited 15 minutes before deciding to ask again. That grumpy staff wasn’t there but I was assisted by other friendly staff who mentioned that my room is ready.

I was pre-upgraded to a 1 Bedroom Apartment. Room 1102 is large but felt dated. The sofa does not have any “cushion” left in it and the toilet door scratches the floor with a high-pitched screech.

Executive lounge

The executive lounge was lovely. Although it is located in a lower floor, it is well decorated and offers very high quality food during evening aperitif from 1800 – 2000 hours. There is complimentary alcoholic drinks offered during those hours.

My picks

For what I paid, this hotel is brilliant. It does need maintenance work. Aside from the grumpy guy at check-in, all other staff whom I met were very friendly and helpful. I’m glad to have made the choice to spend a night here before my flight from SAW.
