Marriott Bonvoy is offering 30% discount on all points purchases till 22 December 2019. As usual, ignore the term “30% discount”. You should only care about the actual price-per-point that is being offered. This offer means that you can now buy Marriott points at S$0.0119 each. This is about 19% more expensive than my valuation of $0.01. It is also the lowest rate that Marriott Bonvoy has ever offered.

You will need to purchase a minimum of 2,000 points to receive the 30% discount. The maximum number of points that you can purchase is 50,000 for a total of US$437.50 (S$595).
Should I buy?
The usual rule-of-thumb applies; I do not recommend buying miles/points if you do not intend to use them in the foreseeable future. Buying Marriott points can put luxury hotels like The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort on “sale”. This property requires only 70,000 points per night for an off-peak redemption. That will cost you S$833 worth of points during this sale. 1 night at this property costs S$1,700 on average if you are paying the full price!
