Alaska Airlines is offering 40% bonus on all miles purchases till 23 December 2019. As usual, ignore the term “40% bonus”. You should only care about the actual price-per-mile that is being offered. This offer means that you can now buy Alaska miles at S$0.0288 each. This is 31% more expensive than my valuation of $0.022. It is also not the best sale that Alaska has had over the past few months.

You will need to purchase a minimum of 30,000 miles to receive the 40% bonus. The maximum number of miles that you can purchase is 60,000, which would bring your total to 84,000 miles after the bonus for a total of US$1,773.75 (S$2,415).
Should I buy?
The usual rule-of-thumb applies; I do not recommend buying miles/points if you do not intend to use them in the foreseeable future. With the recent devaluation, it is harder to find value in buying Alaska miles at this price. Even though this is not a good sale, you may still be able to fly in some premium cabins for a discount. As discussed in this article, flying Business Class to USA will cost you $3,130 (100,000 miles + $250 fees) if you were to purchase the miles during this offer period. Air fares for a similar seat usually go for about $4,500.
