Ascott Star Rewards is one of the least rewarding hotel loyalty programs to me for the following reasons:

You get membership status based on spending, not nights or stays.

Gold membership only gets you a little bit more points as compared to Silver.

Gold members do not get room upgrades or complimentary breakfast and some benefits are only offered to properties in certain continents.
But if you know me by now, I do not argue with free. Besides, it took me only 1 minute to sign-up.
