Arrival

Upon arrival, we were assisted with our luggages and directed to the reception. The lobby was massive with two grand staircases like a lot of luxury hotels built in the 1990s.

Upon checking my reservation, the receptionist shared that my check-in process will be completed at the club lounge. He then guided us there before handing us over to the staff at the club lounge.

The staff at the lounge asked if we wanted any drinks before completing the check-in process and sharing the Club Lounge benefits for Platinum members and above.

As the occupancy was very low, the hotel had very generously upgraded me to the Royal Club Suite on the lounge floor as a recognition of my Titanium status!

As I wanted to use my Marriott eGiftCard, I’d requested to settle the room charges immediately upon arrival to prevent any delays during check out.

The room

Room 2601, 100sqm/1076sqft in size, is absolutely beautiful! Although this wasn’t a Thai-themed suite, the hotel did very well in incorporating modern Thai designs all around the suite. I especially loved the royal blue accent on furnitures and carpets.

The view from the room was incredible! I never knew that a view like that existed in Bangkok. I later found out that a large part of the greenery next to the hotel was the US Ambassador’s residence. As if that’s not enough, you’ll be able to catch a beautiful sunset from this west-facing room on a clear day!

Later that evening, a housekeeping staff came to send a special Valentine’s Day amenity. How thoughtful!

Best rooms

In general, I always ask for a room on the highest floor possible and it must not be a connecting room (less noise).

The best rooms are probably those near the western corner of the building where you can get great views of the greenery and the sunset.

Royal Club Lounge

The Royal Club Lounge is located on level 26. Marriott Bonvoy Platinum members and above has complimentary access to this beautiful and spacious lounge.

Afternoon tea was served from 2.30pm to 4.30pm and Hors D’oeuvres from 6pm to 8pm. Although the spread was small, food offered in this lounge were of high quality.

We also took advantage of the complimentary laundry service (2 pcs per guest) during our stay!

Other club benefits include meeting room usage, late check-out and unlimited city calls.

Kintsugi restaurant

As mentioned above, my stay included THB 2,777 (S$123) credit. We decided to use it for lunch shortly after arrival at Kintsugi Bangkok by Jeff Ramsey. We had Kin Kat, Grilled Alaskan King Crab and Unagi Donburi from the menu. They all tasted incredible and well worth spending our hotel credit on!

Breakfast

Breakfast is complimentary for Platinum members and above and was served at Rain Tree Café from 6.30am to 10.30am. Because of the low occupancy, the club lounge was not serving breakfast while I was there.

Even at the main restaurant, there were only about 7 other tables occupied while I was there. Despite the low occupancy, the hotel maintained the excellent quality of the buffet. The tom yam omelette was really delicious and I highly recommend it!

Other facilities

The swimming pool was large and there was also a baby pool at the end. The View alfresco bar is located just beside the pool.

The gym is well-equipped and is located next to the pool.

This hotel has a total of 8 dining venues!
