Nerfed: UOB PRVI Miles AMEX S$80k Annual Spend for Loyalty Miles

UOB has raised the minimum annual spend needed to earn the 20,000 loyalty miles bonus on the UOB PRVI Miles American Express Card.

Existing cardholders get a grace period before the higher requirement kicks in, though how long it lasts depends on their own card membership periods.

20,000 loyalty miles now need S$80,000 annual spend

From 1 Aug 2026, new UOB PRVI Miles American Express cardholders will need to spend at least S$80,000 in a membership year to earn the 20,000 loyalty miles (UNI$10,000) bonus, up from S$50,000 previously.

✍️ This change only applies to the American Express (AMEX) variant of this card. UOB PRVI Miles Visa and Mastercard variants do not come with any annual loyalty miles.

This applies to cards approved on or after 1 Aug 2026. Eligibility follows the approval date (not application date), so if you’re looking to apply for this card today, 31 Jul 2026, to escape this nerf, you’re probably too late.

For existing cardholders whose card was approved before 1 Aug 2026, the higher requirement only applies from the first statement date of the membership year that falls on or after 1 Oct 2026.

A membership year is a 12-month cycle of 12 consecutive monthly statements, starting from the date the first statement is generated (after your card was first approved).

Remember: UOB PRVI Miles AMEX cardholders can earn 5,000 bonus miles on quarterly overseas spend from 1 Jul 2026.

Effective earn rate after loyalty miles

The 20,000 loyalty miles are a fixed award rather than a bonus rate, so raising the spend needed to unlock them lowers the bonus spread across every dollar charged to the card.

At S$50,000, the bonus worked out to an extra 0.4 mpd. At S$80,000, it now drops to 0.25 mpd at best. Cardholders now need to spend S$30,000 more, a 60% increase, for the same 20,000 miles.

Here’s how the bonus compares against the old requirement, assuming a full membership year of spend in a single category. Regional refers to spend in Indonesian Rupiah, Malaysian Ringgit, Thai Baht and Vietnamese Dong:

Remember: Even at the new threshold, 1.65 mpd sits way below the 4 mpd offered by the best miles credit cards in Singapore.

Automatic annual fee waiver still needs S$50,000 spend

The automatic annual fee waiver threshold has not moved. Clause 1(xii) in the terms and conditions is unchanged, so the S$261.60 annual fee is still waived when you spend S$50,000 or more in your card membership year. Spending on both principal and supplementary cards counts towards that S$50,000.

Of course, even if you don’t spend S$50,000 in a membership year on the UOB PRVI Miles AMEX Card, you should always request an annual fee waiver as it does not come with any miles (unlike numerous other Miles cards).

⚠️ As a reminder: This automatic annual fee waiver applies to the AMEX variant of the UOB PRVI Miles Card only.

Is the UOB PRVI Miles Card good?

In my UOB PRVI Miles Card review, I called this one of the worst miles credit cards in Singapore. Its earn rates are only slightly better than the alternatives, and that comes at the expense of your peace of mind.

The red flags include a high annual fee that earns no miles, miles that expire just 2 years after they are earned, only 2 useful transfer partners and a S$5 earning block. For day-to-day spending, I would rather use 4 mpd cards. And if I’m too lazy to track the monthly caps on those cards, pretty much every other general spending miles card gives me better peace of mind.

The card’s most useful features are its free airport lounge access, bill payments through CardUp and buying miles through UOB Payment Facility.

Here’s a detailed look at the UOB PRVI Miles Card:

What is my membership year?

Your membership year refers to a 12-month cycle based on your card statements. It starts from the date your first statement is generated, with each membership year comprising 12 consecutive monthly statements. After the first 12 statements complete one cycle, the next membership year begins immediately and continues in the same pattern.
