UOB EVOL Card Change: No Annual Fee from 1 Jul 2026

UOB has announced that the UOB EVOL Card will soon waive annual membership fees indefinitely.

“Say goodbye to annual fees from 1 July 2026. Card annual fees will be waived, with no min. spend required!”

Annual fee waived

Currently, UOB EVOL cardholders can receive an automatic annual fee waiver by spending at least 3 times per month (any amount) for 12 consecutive months.

With effect from 1 Jul 2026, this will no longer be necessary, as the annual fees on both principal and supplementary UOB EVOL Cards will be waived.

Noticed how UOB uses the word “waived” instead of “removed”? This suggests to me that the annual fee remains, but the bank is waiving it indefinitely.

So, you should still keep an eye on future changes to the annual fee. Annoying, I know. But honestly, that’s what you’re signing up for, as a UOB credit cardholder: sneaky tricks and the opposite of peace of mind.

Is the UOB EVOL Card good?

Since its previous revamp, the UOB EVOL Card has led the way as the most innovative credit card from a traditional bank in Singapore. However, in typical UOB fashion, there’s almost always a catch.

Let’s have a look at the best features of the UOB EVOL Card:

  1. No foreign transaction fee
Most Singapore credit cards charge over 3% in FX fees; this card does not. The catch: 1% DCC fee for SGD transactions processed overseas (e.g. Spotify, Airbnb).
  2. Up to 1% cashback overseas
No min. spend and no cap to enjoy this cashback. The catch: 0.5% in China and Europe, 1% elsewhere, till 31 Dec 2026 only.
  3. NEW: No annual fee
Most Singapore credit cards charge at least S$196.20 in annual fee; this card does not. The catch: “waived” indefinitely.

And let’s not forget the UOB EVOL Card’s infamous “10% cashback” benefit, which is really just 6.4% cashback in the best-case scenario.

To be a successful UOB EVOL cardholder, you’ll need to fully understand the terms and conditions and micromanage your spending (amount and timing). If you’re looking for just 1 or 2 simple cards to spend with, this card is far from ideal. Pick a general spending cashback card, or a 4 mpd miles card with no min. spend.

Here’s a detailed look at the UOB EVOL Card:
