Best ways to redeem Avios

In my experience, Qatar Airways sets the standard for Business Class travel, offering great seats, airport lounges, food, onboard amenities and an overall Business Class experience.

Additional note: Qatar Airways does not pass on fuel surcharges for award bookings on its own flights; however, the airline charges an additional booking fee per segment. This means that if you’re flying to Europe in Business Class, you’ll pay around S$350 each way (2 segments).

Avios are great for the following flight redemptions:

Should you convert credit card miles/points to Avios?

The usual rule of thumb applies: ONLY convert your miles/points if you plan to use them in the near future.

⚠️ In the past few months, Qatar Airways flight schedule has been affected by ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Obviously, take this uncertainty into consideration before converting credit card miles to Avios if you’re planning to redeem them for Qatar Airways flights.

If you already have plans to fly in the above-mentioned “sweet spot” routes in the coming months, this is a no-brainer. Be sure to check for award availability on qatarairways.com, ba.com and finnair.com before committing.

Also, remember that Qatar Airways Avios can also be transferred freely to British Airways Club and Finnair Plus at a 1:1 ratio.

Is Avios useful for Singapore-based travellers?

Qatar Airways Privilege Club uses Avios as its miles currency, like other FFPs in the Avios family (e.g. The British Airways Club and Finnair Plus).

Avios is very useful for Singapore-based travellers, mainly for the following reasons:
