UOB EVOL Card Promo: 0.5-1% Cashback Overseas, 0% FX Fee

UPDATE 26 MAR 2026: The UOB EVOL Card has made changes to this promo before it was scheduled to end.

The good: The monthly cap and minimum spending requirement to receive cashback on overseas spending has been removed, and the promo has been extended till 31 Dec 2026 (previously 1 Jun 2026).

The bad: The cashback amount on overseas spending in China and Europe now lowered to 0.5% (previously 1%).

This page has been updated to reflect the latest promo terms.

UOB is running a promotion for overseas foreign currency spending on the UOB EVOL Card in the coming months.

0.5% cashback on China and Europe spending

Cardholders can receive uncapped 0.5% cashback on China and Europe spending, down from 1% in the original promo.

UOB defines Europe as the following countries: Austria; Belgium; Bulgaria; Croatia; Cyprus; Czech Republic; Denmark; Estonia; Finland (including Aland Islands); France; Germany; Gibraltar; Greece; Hungary; Iceland; Republic of Ireland; Italy; Latvia; Liechtenstein; Lithuania; Luxembourg; Malta; Mayotte; Netherlands; Norway; Poland; Portugal (including Azores, Madeira); Reunion; Romania; Slovakia; Slovenia; Spain (including Canary Islands, Ceuta, Melilla); Sweden.

However, UOB doesn’t provide an explicit definition of “FX Spend processed in China”, so it’s probably safest to assume that it covers the following currencies in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan:

  • Chinese Yuan (CNY)
  • Hong Kong Dollar (HKD)
  • Taiwanese Dollar (TWD)
  • Macanese Pataca (MOP)

1% cashback on other overseas spending

UOB EVOL cardholders can receive uncapped 1% cashback on payments processed in countries/regions other than China and Europe.

What counts as “overseas spending”?

Don’t be misled by the term “overseas spending”; it doesn’t mean that you need to be physically abroad to qualify. Online spending in a foreign currency also counts, as long as the merchant processes the payment outside of Singapore.

Here’s UOB’s definition, as stated in the terms and conditions:

“Overseas Foreign Currency Spend” or “FX Spend” means Transactions which are processed outside of Singapore and successfully charged to your Card and posted on UOB’s system, in a foreign currency. Transactions which are processed outside of Singapore, but which are charged to your Card in Singapore dollars at the time of the Transaction will not constitute an Overseas Foreign Currency Spend.

Is this a good promo?

Overall, this is a positive update to the UOB EVOL Card promo, making it a competitive credit card for foreign currency spending until 31 Dec 2026.

I’d still pick the Mari Credit Card to receive 1.5% cashback on my first S$1,500 worth of foreign currency spending every month; after maxing out my 4 mpd credit cards, of course.

0% foreign currency fee

As previously shared, the UOB EVOL Card became the first credit card from a traditional Singapore bank to offer 0% foreign currency fees as an evergreen card benefit, uncapped, with no minimum spending requirement. It is now 1 of 6 credit cards with no foreign transaction fees.

While the UOB EVOL Card doesn’t come with other attractive benefits, this is a much-welcomed step in the right direction, as the majority of credit cards in Singapore charge foreign transaction junk fees of over 3%.
