UOB Preferred Visa Card Refresh: New Name, New Look

The UOB Preferred Platinum Visa Card (a.k.a. UOB PPV) is still an essential Miles credit card in Singapore, despite its recent nerf.

UOB announced today that this card will have a different name, a new look and an additional travel insurance benefit that isn’t useful to cardholders.

UOB Preferred Visa Card refresh

Effective today, 10 Mar 2026, the UOB Preferred Platinum Visa Card has been renamed to UOB Preferred Visa Card (or you can just call it UOB PV when discussing in Suitesmile Chat). They’ve basically only removed the word “platinum” from the name, as this card is now a Visa Signature card, not a Visa Platinum.

The other noteworthy change is the card’s design, which to me, looks a lot better than the previous version.

Here’s a comparison of the old and new card designs:

There are no other noteworthy changes on the card, with usefulness and annual fee remaining the same.

The UOB Preferred Visa Card is great for mobile contactless and online spending (with selected MCCs). Yes, if you’re using your shiny new card physically, you’re using it wrong.

Here are the key details of this card:

New travel insurance benefit (not useful)

Also from 10 Mar 2026, the UOB Preferred Visa Card will come with complimentary travel insurance with the following inclusions:

  • Credit Card Liability Protector coverage of S$5,000
  • Public Conveyance Personal Accident of S$500,000
  • Travel inconvenience coverage includes travel delay, flight overbooking and flight
    misconnection
  • Emergency Medical Assistance of up to S$50,000 due to an accident or illness

To enjoy this coverage, cardholders are required to charge the full travel fare to the card and submit this form before departure.

So, why is this not a useful benefit? With a sad earn rate of just 0.4 mpd, the UOB Preferred Visa Card is not a good card for flight bookings.

When will you get the new card?

Existing UOB Preferred Visa cardholders will receive the new card from 10 Mar 2026:

  • Upon card renewal (when the current card expires)
  • For card replacement (e.g. lost or damaged)

UOB Lady’s Cards’ minor refresh

Besides the UOB Preferred Visa Card, UOB had also recently refreshed the card faces of 2 other useful miles credit cards:

These are minor design changes, with the silver borders gone. Both cards still have the same names and benefits today.
