How to buy eSIMs from YouTrip
Before you start, make sure to have enough balance in your SGD YouTrip wallet as eSIM purchases can only be made in Singapore dollars.
Follow these simple steps to purchase an eSIM in the YouTrip app:
- Tap on ‘Travel’
- Tap ‘eSIM’
- Pick a destination or bundle
- Select data package and validity period
- Review details and pay
- Check your email for eSIM installation steps

YouTrip eSIM vs competitors
The roaming eSIM market is highly competive with many Singapore telco/MVNOs in Singapore offering high data roaming allowances on contract-free mobile plans (e.g. Eight, SIMBA).
If you’re travelling to neighbouring Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, you should be well covered by these plans, with hundreds of gigabytes worth of monthly data included.
So, the real need for a data roaming eSIM is usually for countries/regions further away like:
- Mainland China
- Japan
- South Korea
- Europe
- USA
I did some basic comparisons on eSIM plans for these regions on YouTrip vs Klook and highly-rated options on Shopee for 20GB data roaming plans with 30 days validity (a healthy amount for most 10-15 day trips).
| Country/ Region | YouTrip | Shopee (ICC) | Klook |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mainland China | S$20 | S$21.72 | S$25.85 |
| Japan | S$20.90 | S$28.98 | S$33.65 |
| South Korea | S$21.95 | S$15.28 | S$25.49 |
| Europe | S$21 | S$21.65 | S$34.75 |
| USA | S$21.80 | S$37.98 | S$31.69 |
Note: SIMBA’s S$18 plan currently includes 30GB roaming data for Mainland China and South Korea, so that may be a better option for you.
As you can see, YouTrip’s eSIM prices are highly-competitive, beating its competitors for most regions. Do note, however, that you’ll likely be able to use Klook or Shopee vouchers in many cases to lower the prices on those platforms.
