Is this a good promo?

The Standard Chartered Visa Infinite Card is marketed as a “premium” card with a higher-than-usual annual fee of S$599.50 and a minimum annual income of S$150,000.

Without this promo, the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite Card offers an uncapped earn rate of 1.4 mpd on SGD spending and 1 mpd (or 3 mpd if you spend min. S$2,000 in a statement month) on foreign currency spending, with a high FX junk fee of 3.5%. In other words, this is not a good credit card to earn miles.

For this promo to make sense to existing cardholders, you should be spending at least S$2,000 in foreign currencies within a statement month to earn 3 mpd with no FX fees.

For new cardholders of the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite Card, this can be a good time to sign up for the card to receive 50,000 miles after spending at least S$2,000 within 60 days; especially if the spending is in foreign currencies.

Are Standard Chartered credit cards useful?

Unfortunately, Standard Chartered has weak credit cards in the Singapore market.

In my opinion, the Standard Chartered Journey card is the only okay one, as a last-resort miles card to earn 3 miles per dollar on groceries, ride-hailing and food delivery. This card is also good for free airport lounge visits, as long as you can get a waiver on the annual fee.

Standard Chartered credit cards are also good for its generous sign-up promotions to receive cash or miles. Don’t feel bad about not using the card after reaching the minimum spending! Just remember to cancel it after a year if you don’t find it useful.

Promo terms and conditions

Here are the terms and conditions of this Standard Chartered Visa Infinite Card promo:

  1. The Standard Chartered Visa Infinite 0% FX Spends Promotion (the “Promotion”) is available from 15 January 2026 to 15 March 2026, both dates inclusive (the “Promotion Period”). By participating in this Promotion, Eligible Cardholders (defined in Clause 2) agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions
  2. For the purposes of the Promotion, each principal cardholder of an Eligible Card (as defined at Clause 4 below) who has received an invitation to participate in this promotion via any of the channels made available by the bank shall be referred to as an “Eligible Cardholder”, and collectively such cardholders shall be referred to as the “Eligible Cardholders”. By participating in the Promotion, Eligible Cardholders agree to be bound by the Promotion Terms and Conditions.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. This Promotion is exclusive to the principal cardholder of an Eligible Card (as defined at Clause 4 below) who meets the following criteria:
  • New Eligible Cardholders (defined below) during the Promotion Period; and
  • Existing Eligible Cardholders who have been specifically selected and invited by Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited (the “Bank”) to participate, based on criteria determined at the Bank’s discretion.

For the avoidance of doubt, eligible Foreign Currency Transactions charged by supplementary cardholders will be attributed to the principal cardholder for the purposes of this Promotion. Also, for New Eligible Cardholders, it is defined as Cardholders who have a new approved Eligible Card during the Promotion Period (regardless of whether he/she has any existing Credit Card with the Bank).

  1. To participate in the Promotion, the Selected Cardholder must hold an “Eligible Card” which includes:
  • Standard Chartered Visa Infinite Credit Card; and/or
  • Standard Chartered Priority Banking Visa Infinite Credit Card

For the avoidance of doubt, only one card will be registered for this Promotion. If an existing cardholder holds both the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite Credit Card and the Standard Chartered Priority Banking Visa Infinite Credit Card, he/she will receive an invite (as described in Clause 6 and 9 below) indicating which card is eligible. If a New Eligible Cardholder happens to apply for both cards, the first card approved will be eligible for this promotion.

For an Eligible Cardholder to be eligible for the Promotion, his/her Card account indicated in the invitation (each an “Eligible Card”) must be valid (i.e. must not be suspended, cancelled and/or terminated, in good standing, and conducted in a proper and satisfactory manner, as determined by Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited (“Bank” or “we”) in its sole and absolute discretion (and the Bank shall not be obliged to disclose its reason)) from 15 January 2026 to 30 June 2026 (both dates inclusive).

Participation

  1. To participate in the Promotion, an Eligible Cardholders must be a registered and valid user of the Standard Chartered Mobile Banking app (“SC Mobile app”) and have enabled the option to receive Push Notification (as defined below) on his/her mobile phone and SC Mobile app (in particular Banking and Marketing alerts).
  2. To successfully register for the Promotion, an Eligible Cardholder must register for the Promotion during the Promotion Period, by clicking on the ‘Register Now’ button found in a Push Notification summarising the details of the Promotion or any of the entry points made available via SC Mobile (“Promotion Invitation”). For the avoidance of doubt, the Promotion Invitation will only be broadcasted from 15 January 2026 onwards, and the frequency of such broadcast will be at the Bank’s determination.
  3. Upon clicking on the ‘Register Now’ button in the Promotion Invitation, all of the Eligible Cardholder’s validly existing Card (i.e. not suspended, cancelled and/or terminated, in good standing, and conducted in a proper and satisfactory manner,as determined by the Bank in its sole and absolute discretion (and the Bank shall not be obliged to disclose its reason) will be registered for the Promotion (such successfully registered card(s) hereinafter referred to as a “Registered Cardholder” immediately.
  4. Eligible Cardholder is required to register only once to participate in the promotion.  
  5. If the Eligible Cardholder misses the initial Push Notification, he/she may access the Promotion Invitation through the following alternatives:
    • notification inbox within SC Mobile app, or;
    • ‘Discover’ tab within SC Mobile app
    • SC Mobile home page banner
    • Electronic Direct Mailer sent to customer’s registered email address with the Bank
  6. The Bank will not accept any registration for the Promotion that is before and/or after the Promotion Period. All such registrations will be considered by the Bank to be invalid and/or void, and the Bank’s determination shall be final and conclusive.
  7. The speed and reliability of service of the Eligible Cardholder’s internet and/or mobile connection is dependent solely on his/her respective internet and/or mobile service providers. The Bank is not and will not be responsible or liable in any manner whatsoever for any delay or failure in the transmission, or any failure to successfully register resulting from the same. Eligible Cardholder shall be solely responsible for all fees and charges imposed by their service providers in relation to the registration for the Promotion.
  8. By registering for and participating in the Promotion, the Registered Cardholder consents to the use of his/her personal data for marketing purposes, including but not limited to the use of his/her telephone number and email address to contact him/her about products and promotions offered by the Bank from time to time via telephone, SMS or Electronic Direct Mail. Such consent will supersede any prior choices made by the Registered Cardholder. Such consent will also prevail even if the Registered Cardholder is registered or subsequently registers his/her contact information with the national Do Not Call Registry.
  9. Once registered, all eligible foreign currency transactions (defined in clause 13) charged after registration during the Promotion Period will earn 3.5% cashback, effectively offsetting foreign transaction fees. Please note that there will be a maximum cashback of S$80, and registration is capped at the first 5,500 customers.
  10. Eligible Foreign Currency Transactions” are retail transactions that:
    1. Are charged in a foreign currency (overseas or online);
    2. Have a transaction date within the Promotion Period;
    3. Are successfully posted during the Promotion Period;
    4. Are not excluded transactions (Clause 18); and
    5. Are not converted to Singapore Dollars via Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC).

Only Eligible Foreign Currency Transactions made after successful registration will qualify for this Promotion.

Promotion Mechanics – Cashback

  1. Eligible Cardholders will receive 3.5% cashback on all Eligible Foreign Currency Transactions charged to their Eligible Card during the Promotion Period.

The Cashback is intended to offset:

  • A prevailing 1% Visa foreign currency transaction charge; and
  • A prevailing 2.5% administrative and conversion fee charged by the Bank,

thereby resulting in an effective 0% FX Fee.

Fulfilment

  1. Cashback earned under this Promotion will be credited to the Eligible Cardholder’s Eligible Card account by 30 June 2026, subject to the account being valid and in good standing at the time of crediting.

General

  1. If an Eligible Cardholder terminates his/her banking relationship with the Bank or closes the Eligible Card within six (6) months after the Promotion Period, the Bank further reserves the right to recover the whole or any part of the Cashback given to him/her under this Promotion. At the time of crediting of the Cashback, the Eligible Card account must be valid (i.e. must not be suspended, cancelled and/or terminated), in good standing, and conducted in a proper and satisfactory manner, as determined by the Bank in its sole and absolute discretion (and the Bank shall not be obliged to disclose its reason), failing which, the Cashback will be forfeited and the Bank shall also be entitled to recover the whole or any part of the Cashback (or such equivalent value) given to the Eligible Cardholder.
  2. Unless otherwise stated, the Promotion is not valid with other offers, discounts, rebates, vouchers, privileges or promotions. The Promotion is valid in conjunction with The Good Life® Programme (the individual merchant and general terms and conditions of which can be found here).
  1. The transactions listed within https://www.sc.com/sg/terms-and-conditions/cc-retail-transaction-exclusionswill not be considered a qualifying transaction (for the purposes of the Promotion) (“Excluded Transactions”, each an “Excluded Transaction”):
  2. Eligible Foreign Currency Transactions charged by supplementary cardholders will be attributed to the principal cardholder for the purposes of this Promotion.
  3. The Bank reserves the right to vary, modify, suspend or terminate the Promotion and to claw back Cashback in the event of ineligible, reversed or refunded transactions. The Bank’s decision shall be final.
  4. For Eligible Foreign Currency Transactions charged during the Promotion Period to an Eligible Card which are successfully converted into monthly instalments:
  5. At the point of sale by tie up merchants, the monthly instalment amount (and not the total amount charged for that transaction); or
  6. At a later date by us, the total amount charged (and not the converted monthly instalment amount), will be used by the Bank to determine the amount of the Eligible Foreign Currency Transaction and whether the Minimum Spend has been made by an Eligible Cardholder, under the Promotion.
  7. For all non-Singapore Dollar Eligible Foreign Currency Transactions charged to the Eligible Card, the transaction amount(s) posted in the Eligible Cardholder’s credit card statement (inclusive of the exchange rate conversion and commission, if any) will be used by the Bank to determine the Cashback entitled.
  8. All Eligible Foreign Currency Transactions must be charged and posted to the Eligible Card within the Promotion Period. We are not responsible for any failure or delay in the transmission of the transactions by any party including but not limited to acquiring merchants, merchant establishments, or any telecommunication provider.
  9. An Eligible Foreign Currency Transaction charged by a supplementary cardholder of an Eligible Cardholder to an Eligible Card of an Eligible Cardholder will be considered as an Eligible Foreign Currency Transaction made by the Eligible Cardholder on this particular Eligible Card for the purposes of this Promotion.
  10. By participating in the Promotion, the Eligible Cardholder consents to the use of his/her personal data for marketing purposes, including but not limited to the use of his/her telephone number and email address to contact him/her about products and promotions offered by the Bank from time to time via telephone, SMS or Electronic Direct Mail.
  11. The Bank may vary, modify, add, delete or otherwise revise any of the Terms and Conditions governing this Promotion or modify, terminate, withdraw, extend, suspend or shorten the Promotion at any time at the Bank’s sole and absolute discretion, with or without prior notice or reason (and the Bank shall not be obliged to disclose its reasons).
  12. The Bank reserves the right to determine at its sole and absolute discretion all matters arising out of or in connection with the Promotion, including the Eligible Cardholder’s eligibility for the Cashback and/or the Promotion. The Bank’s determination of all matters relating to this Promotion shall be final and conclusive, and no correspondence will be entertained.
  1. In the event the Bank has determined (in the Bank’s sole and absolute discretion) that a Eligible Cardholder is not eligible to receive the Cashback or to participate in the Promotion or has irregularly or wrongly redeemed the Cashback, or where the Bank has knowledge of subsequent events which would mean that the Eligible Cardholder would not have been entitled to the Cashback (including but not limited to where the Eligible Foreign Currency Transactions used to meet the Minimum Spend were reversed or refunded), the Bank reserves the right to claw back the Cashback or deduct its value (or such other amount as it deems fit) from the Eligible Cardholder’s account(s) with the Bank.
  2. In the event of any inconsistency between these Promotion Terms and Conditions and any brochures, marketing or promotional materials relating to the Promotion, these Promotion Terms and Conditions shall prevail to the extent of such inconsistency.
  3. Except for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Bank, to the fullest extent permitted by law, the Bank and members of the Bank’s group shall have no liability in respect of, will be indemnified from and against, and/or you hereby agree to release and hold the Bank and members of the Bank’s group harmless for, any expenses, costs of any kind (including legal costs), liability, loss (whether foreseeable or not), claim or damage, directly or indirectly, suffered, incurred (whether in common law or equity), arising from or in connection with your acceptance, possession, use, misuse and/or enjoyment of the Cashback and/or this Promotion.
  4. These Promotion Terms and Conditions are to be read together with our Customer Terms and Credit Card Terms and any other product terms that may be applicable in conjunction with the Promotion (collectively “Other Terms”). In the event of any inconsistency between these terms and the Other Terms, these terms prevail only to the extent of such inconsistency.
  5. A person who is not a party to these Promotion Terms and Conditions has no rights under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 2001 to enforce any of these Promotion Terms and Conditions.
  6. These Promotion Terms and Conditions are governed by and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore and you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of Singapore.
