Citi SMRT Card Promo: 5% Cashback on Malaysian Ringgit Spend

Citi SMRT Card is running a limited-time promo for Malaysian Ringgit spending.

5% cashback on Malaysian Ringgit spending

From 1 Sep 2025 till 28 Feb 2026, Citi SMRT cardholders can receive 5% cashback on Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) spending when they spend at least S$500 on the card in a statement month (in any currency), subject to the same S$12,000 annual cap (card membership year).

Unfortunately, it appears that travel-related spending on MYR spending will not qualify, as suggested by clause 3 in the promo terms and conditions, which reads as follows:

“You will continue to be subject to the Citi SMRT$ Rewards Program Terms and Conditions.”

Even though travel-related MYR spending will not qualify, Citi SMRT cardholders can still enjoy 5% cashback on pretty much all other spending categories, as long as they do not fall under the general exclusions.

Be reminded that Citi credit cards charge a 3.25% foreign transaction junk fee. With this promo, you’d profit with about 1.75% on MYR spending, which makes it among the best credit cards for overseas use (in Malaysia), until the promo ends on 28 Feb 2026.

Is Citi SMRT Card good?

I view the Citi SMRT Card as the second-best Citibank credit card in Singapore right now, mainly for its usefulness for big purchases made online. While other miles and cashback credit cards with high earn rates come with a monthly cap, this card has an annual cap instead.

Citi SMRT cardholders can receive 5% cashback on up to S$12,000 worth of spending per card membership year, and it can even be done in 1 transaction if you wish
