From 1 Nov 2025, KrisFlyer members will require more miles for Singapore Airlines award redemptions to all destinations, in all cabin classes, except for Economy Class to/from nearby regions.
Most regions see a minor award rate increment of about 5% in Business Class (Saver), while Istanbul, a hot KrisFlyer sweet spot, sees the biggest hike of 20%.

The Star Alliance award chart has been devalued too, but these award rates were already sky-high with fuel surcharges chargeable. KrisFlyer miles remain poor for redemptions on other airlines.
KrisFlyer Access award option introduced; expect greater award availability but much-higher award rates.

When will the KrisFlyer devaluation take place?
The new award charts will come into effect for bookings made from 12am SGT, 1 November 2025.
The 2-month grace period allows KrisFlyer members to lock in the pre-devaluation award rates until 31 October 2025. With KrisFlyer award seats releasing 355 days in advance, members can enjoy the current rates for travels up till October 2026.
How will waitlist bookings be affected?
Waitlist bookings that are cleared by 31 October 2025 will be charged the pre-devaluation award rates, while those that clear from 1 November 2025 will see the new award rates.

KrisFlyer Access: Dynamic Award Pricing
While it’s great that KrisFlyer still has an award chart after this devaluation, they’ve also introduced the dreaded dynamic pricing through KrisFlyer Access from 1 Nov 2025, where award rates depend on the number of seats available at the time of booking.
As the methodology is not made transparent, KrisFlyer will likely show any award rate they deem fit, potentially rising until the last seat is sold.
Unless if you’re earning free miles on your company’s expenses, there’s nothing fun about getting into the Miles Game (and spending loads of time and effort choosing and tracking the best Miles cards), just to “throw away” 500k miles on a Business Class seat. There’s no question that this is the worst part of this devaluation announcement, as it’s a giant hint about the direction KrisFlyer is heading as a frequent flyer program.
I expect to see award rates pushing towards 1 million miles per seat in the coming years, like what we’re already seeing with many airline/hotel loyalty programs like Flying Blue, SkyMiles, Hilton Honors and Marriott Bonvoy.

Naturally, I expect Singapore-based travel hackers to have their eyes on the KrisFlyer sweet spots, where KrisFlyer is stronger than other frequent flyer programs. These are Business Class Saver flights to/from Istanbul, Australia, New Zealand, North China, South Asia and North America.

Bad redemptions are getting worse, but…who cares?
KrisFlyer miles redemptions to Japan, South Korea and Europe offer poor value, as other frequent flyer programs provide far better award rates and taxes/fees combinations, even for flights operated by Singapore Airlines!

✈️ Cheapest ways to fly to Europe using Miles
These regions will also see a minor award rate increase of around 5%, and can be a decent redemption during a KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes promo, when award rates are typically discounted by 30%.
Zone 7: Japan, South Korea
- Old Rate: 52,000 miles
- New Rate: 54,500 miles
- Increase: +2,500 miles (+4.8%)
Zone 11: Europe

- New Rate: 108,500 miles
- Increase: +5,000 miles (+4.8%)
What should you do now?
As mentioned above, the new award rates are only applicable for bookings made from 1 Nov 2025. This gives you about 2 months to complete an award booking with your KrisFlyer miles at the current rates.
As KrisFlyer releases award seats up to 355 days in advance, members have the opportunity to lock in travels as far ahead as Oct 2026 at the current rates; best if you have KrisFlyer sweet spots on your radar. Just remember to book by 31 Oct 2025!
Travellers should also expect award availability for popular routes to be snapped up fast in the coming weeks, so start planning if you’re sitting on a lot of KrisFlyer miles.
