New Changes to British Airways’ Frequent Flyer Program

British Airways have made changes to its Frequent Flyer Program (FFP) and earning elite status is now significantly more expensive for most members.

Key points to note

  • Effective Date: 1 April 2025
  • FFP Rebranding: British Airways Executive Club is renamed The British Airways Club
  • Award Rates: No changes
  • Status Earning Basis: Elite status switches from being primarily based on flight distance/fare class to being based purely on spending (£1 = 1 Tier Point).
  • New Tier Point Requirements:
    • Bronze: 3,500 Tier Points
    • Silver: 7,500 Tier Points
    • Gold: 20,000 Tier Points
    • Gold Guest List: 65,000 Tier Points
  • Expanded Tier Point Earning: Members can earn Tier Points on:
    • Flights (base fare and other carrier charges)
    • Flight add-ons (e.g. seat selection, excess baggage)
    • British Airways Holidays packages (£1 = 1 TP, uncapped)
  • Partner Flight Earning: For partners without fare information, Tier Points earned based on flight distance and fare class percentage
  • Milestone Rewards:
    • 2,500 bonus Avios at 5,500 Tier Points
    • 4,000 bonus Avios at 11,000 Tier Points
    • 5,000 bonus Avios at 16,000 Tier Points
  • Transitional Offer: Earn bonus Tier Points per segment for eligible flights registered and booked by 31 Dec 2025; fly by 31 Dec 2026

Is TBAC useful for Singapore-based travellers?

The British Airways Club (TBAC) uses Avios as its miles currency, like other FFPs in the Avios family like Qatar Privilege Club and Finnair Plus.
