Aside from the occasional promos, it is pretty much impossible to earn cashback on Airbnb bookings through shopping portals like ShopBack and TopCashback. However, it is still possible to earn miles!

British Airways Executive Club

British Airways Executive Club members can earn 2 Avios per USD on Airbnb bookings. This converts to about 1.5 Avios per SGD as of the time of this article.

If you are based in Singapore, BA Executive Club is the obvious choice, as Avios can be transferred from Citibank and HSBC cards. On top of that, Executive Club gives you the most amount of miles, as compared to the other 3 Frequent Flyer Programs below.

Qantas Frequent Flyer rewards members with 1 mile per AUD spent on Airbnb. This converts to around 1.2 miles per SGD.

In Singapore, Qantas FF is a partner of Citibank, HSBC and DBS. However, the frequent flyer program doesn’t offer many good value redemption opportunities, due to high rates and lack of award availability on Qantas-operated flights.

The biggest drawback is that DBS points earned on this card have an expiry term of just 1 year. With a minimum transfer block of 5,000 points (10,000 miles), cardholders often find themselves with expiring “orphan” points of under 5,000, that can only be redeemed for low-value items like mall/dining vouchers.
