What benefits to expect when you stay at Avani Ao Nang Cliff Krabi Resort as GHA Discovery Titanium member?
The property originally opened in 2008, as Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort. In 2020, after an acquisition and renovation, it was rebranded to Avani Ao Nang Cliff Krabi Resort. It now has a total of 178 guest rooms.

This property is located near Ao Nang beach, in Krabi.

Arrival
Upon arrival, we were assisted with our luggages before being shown to the self-park car park.
I had booked the base room, and was offered a double room upgrade, as a GHA Discovery Titanium member.

Superior Sea View Room
This room type is 45sqm (484sqft) in size.
The room’s furnishing felt okay, for a hotel built in 2008, but the unblocked sea and cliff view from the balcony was quite lovely.
Breakfast
Unlike some hotel loyalty programs, GHA Discovery does not have any membership level that comes with complimentary breakfast at Avani hotels. To enjoy breakfast in the property, guests will have to book a rate that includes it.
Breakfast was held as a buffet at Pano Cafe, which offers a great cliff view, but unfortunately, only to guests seated at 2 or 3 tables.
The buffet had a good variety, but food quality was below average and did not taste fresh. Check out the pale-looking pastries below.

The WiFi speed was good enough for light web surfing.

Bottom line
Other than the amazing view from the room, I wasn’t impressed by this property, at this price point. Krabi has a number of beautiful hotels, resorts, and even villas with private pools at a lower price point.
At the time of writing, the average nightly rate for the base room is around USD 60, 20% lower than what I paid. But earlier this year, it was averaging well over USD 100 per night! Maybe the hotel is experimenting with the rates, but in terms of overall quality vs other properties in the area, I would rate it as a USD 50-60 hotel.
