What benefits to expect when you stay at Le Méridien Khao Lak as a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium or Platinum Elite member?
The property originally opened in 2017, as Bangsak Merlin Resort. In 2019, it was rebranded to Le Méridien Khao Lak Resort & Spa. It now has a total of 269 guest rooms.
Location
This beach resort is located along the coast of Khao Lak, about 75km North of Phuket. There aren’t many restaurants near this resort.
- 20 mins drive to International Tsunami Museum
- 1 hr 30 mins drive to Phuket International Airport (HKT)
Arrival
Upon arrival, we were assisted with our luggages before being shown to the carpark.
As breakfast is not automatically complimentary to Platinum members and above, and it has to be selected as a welcome gift.
Studio
The Studio is 63sqm (678sqft) in size.
The Studio is a corner room with a tiny view of the beach. It has modern furnishing and comes with a walk-in closet. I’m not sure why anyone on vacation would want a walk-in closet, but I’m guessing that this is the default Bridal room, for guests who are holding their wedding here.
Unfortunately, this hotel does not provide in-room coffee machines.
Breakfast
Breakfast was held as a buffet at Beach Grill restaurant.
The buffet was extensive, and food quality was good, for a hotel at this price point.
Internet speed
The WiFi speed was good enough for light web surfing.
Other facilities
Resort activities
Guests can join complimentary or paid activities, rain or shine, within the resort every day. Just remember to make reservations through the front desk.
My ratings
This is how I am rating my stay, after considering what I paid:
Breakfast | 8/10 | Club lounge* | – |
Service | 8/10 | Peace & quiet | 10/10 |
Location | 8/10 | Facilities | 10/10 |
Room furnishing | 9/10 | Elite member recognition | 9/10 |
View (from the room) | 9/10 | Value | 10/10 |
*Additional note: Unlike Hyatt and Hilton-affiliated properties, Marriott Bonvoy Resorts (like this one) are not required to have a club lounge (yes, just because there’s the word “resort” in the property’s name).
Bottom line
It was a fun stay at Le Méridien Khao Lak, with lots of things to do and free activities to join all day, everyday. Even if you don’t feel like doing anything, there’s a gorgeous, clean beach to hang out in.
I enjoyed my stay at the nearby JW Marriott Khao Lak a little more, but at the time of this article, that hotel has an average nightly rate twice more of this property.
