How to access Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge Changi Airport T3

I visited this lounge before my EVA Air Business Class flight, from Singapore to Taipei.

Passengers flying in Singapore Airlines or Star Alliance Business Class can access this lounge before departure. Eligible passengers are not allowed to bring a non-eligible guest.

Passengers with PPS or Solitaire PPS Club status can access this lounge regardless of the cabin class that they are flying on, as long as it is with Singapore Airlines or a Star Alliance airline. Eligible passengers can bring 1 non-eligible guest, who is travelling on the same flight.

KrisFlyer or Star Alliance Gold members, who are not flying in Business Class, do not have access to this lounge. They’ll be directed to the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge instead.

Getting there

The SilverKris Business Class Lounge is located on the 3rd floor in Terminal 3, near other Singapore Airlines lounges like The Private Room, First Class and KrisFlyer Gold.

You will find escalators to it near Longchamp and Luvenus, after passing through immigration. Look out for the beautiful batik wall right next to the escalator.

General areas

This lounge was last renovated in late-2021, and it looks a lot more “alive” than the previous iteration. Upgrades include better furnishing, lighting, and a much-improved layout to allow for more natural light.

However, due to the space constraints in the terminal, you’d still find low ceiling and lack of a view and natural light in some areas.

Food & Drinks

As with most Business Class lounges, visitors can enjoy unlimited food and drinks from the buffet, and order freshly prepared dishes at the live-cooking stations nearby.

As a Singaporean, I found the F&B offerings to be the highlight of this lounge, featuring a good variety of high-quality local and Asian flavours.

Crowded hours

I’ve been to this lounge a number of times since it’s reopening, however, as those visits were during the crowded hours, it was impossible to take good photos, let alone find a seat! Lounge overcrowding at certain hours of the day, in an airline’s home airport, is a common issue.

The crowded hours are from 8pm till 12 midnight daily. This is due to the high volume of Singapore Airlines long-haul flights departing the terminal between 10pm and 2am.

Based on what travellers have shared in Suitesmile’s Telegram group, the lounge also gets pretty busy in the morning too, from 8am to 11am. However, the situation is usually not as chaotic as in the evenings.

During the crowded hours, you may face the following inconveniences in the lounge:

  • Shortage of available seats (especially for 2+ pax)
  • Delay in receiving cooked-to-order food
  • Delay in buffet item replenishment
  • Lengthy wait for shower rooms
  • Excessive noise

Bottom line

Design-wise, Singapore Airlines’ renovated SilverKris Business Class Lounge in Changi Airport Terminal 3 is a significant improvement over its previous iteration. However, it does not look as impressive as other flagship lounges around the world, like Qatar’s and Turkish’s. And unfortunately, this will likely remain as the best Business Class Lounge that Singapore Airlines has to offer for many years to come, until the new terminal is ready in mid-2030s.

What the lounge lacks in aesthetics, it makes up for with its excellent F&B offerings. I liken my experience in this lounge to Cathay Pacific’s The Pier lounge in Hong Kong, and that’s a compliment. I should also mention that, food-wise, Qatar Airways Premium Lounge is currently the best Business Class lounge in Singapore, with its à la carte options.

If arriving during the crowded hours, I recommend keeping your visit short. It’s not a relaxing environment during those times, and reducing your stay can help ease overcrowding (we are part of the crowd too!).
