Examples and comparisons

Agoda has been really aggressive with their offers recently, offering up to 25% discount on hotel bookings. However, although the Agoda has a longer list of hotels available, discounts are usually only applicable to selected hotels and excludes popular chain brands from Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt and Accor.

As mentioned above, this AirAsia deal applies to all hotels, chain hotels included.

After playing around the website for a bit, I found that the amount of savings that I can get with this deal is pretty good!

Example 1: Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar

In the example below, booking Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar through this deal is easily cheaper than the (already cheap) “Red Hot Rooms” deal that is currently available to Accor Plus members, on the exact same dates.

Plus, you would even get free cancellation for flexibility!

Here’s a comparison of AirAsia’s rate vs Agoda x UOB’s deal (15% off) for THE FACE Suites Kuala Lumpur:

Why we like this card
We see the HSBC Revolution as the best credit card in Singapore as it offers a great earn rate of 4 MPD for key spending categories, has a decent cashback option, does not have a minimum spending requirement and does not have an annual fee to worry about!

Is this a good deal?

Getting 6% to 10% discounts in Agoda, Expedia or booking.com is normal. That’s the minimum discount range that you should be getting for your hotel bookings, all year long.

With that in mind, getting 28% (or so) instant savings on your hotel bookings is a fantastic deal, especially if you can find something you like in the MYR 200 to MYR 300 price range.

Bottom line

AirAsia is offering an unbeatable deal for Southeast Asia hotel bookings. Consider this option if you have travel plans in the coming months!
