Nerfed: DBS will stop awarding points for Amaze transactions from 1 June 2022

Ahh…all good things must come to an end. Instarem’s Amaze has been, hands-down, the best card in Singapore for a few months now.

In the latest terms and conditions for DBS Rewards, Amaze is now in the list of excluded transactions where cardholders will not earn DBS points.

New exclusion for DBS Rewards

Any transaction with transaction description “AMAZE*” (with effect from 1 June 2022)

Key points to note

  • All Amaze transactions on DBS Woman’s World posted by 31 May 2022 will continue to earn 4 MPD
  • You can no longer avoid DBS’s hefty foreign transaction fee (3.25%) on flight/hotel transaction to earn 4 MPD (Reminder: Amaze + Citi Rewards will not give you 4 MPD for flight/hotel payments)
  • You can still earn 4 MPD on Amaze transactions with Citi Rewards card for other online transactions, up to S$1,000 per statement month

Bottom line

The innovative Amaze card will be badly nerfed come 1st June 2022. But hey, I’m sure we all saw this coming. I think it’s nice of DBS to give cardholders one-month’s notice to enjoy the Amaze + DBS Woman’s World combination in May 2022.

The big question now is, when will Citibank follow? Enjoy it while it lasts!
