What benefits to expect when you stay at Anantara Uluwatu Bali as a GHA Discovery Titanium member?
Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort opened in 2012 with a total of 75 rooms.
Location
The hotel is located in Uluwatu.
- 15 mins drive to Uluwatu Temple
- 35 mins drive to Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS)
- 1 hr 25 mins drive to Ubud Town
Arrival
A few days before my stay, the hotel had wrongfully denied Black member benefits as my booking included a Best Rate Guarantee discount. It took a few emails to the BRG team to get it sorted out. Always frustrating to have to fight for your loyalty benefits.
Upon arrival, we had our temperatures taken and were assisted with our luggages before being directed to the reception. There is a two-storey flight of stairs to get to the lobby. There are also ramps (beside the stairs) for wheelchair access.
I had booked the base room (Ocean View Suite) and was upgraded to the Ocean Front Suite as a GHA Discovery Black member.
The suite (Ocean Front Suite)
Room 533 is 84sqm / 904sqft in size. This suite is of the same size as the entry-level Ocean View Suite but offers a much better view of the ocean, as the name suggests. Although, I was unlucky to have bad weather for most of my stay.
Bathroom amenities were very weak. The unbranded shampoo and bath gel smelt so bad (sour) that it lingered in my nose for hours!
Privacy between the Ocean Front Suites were poor. Guests from neighbouring suites could see directly into mine and I could look into theirs.

Breakfast
Unlike other, more rewarding hotel loyalty programs, GHA Discovery‘s top-tier members are not automatically entitled to complimentary breakfast. However, the rate that I booked had breakfast included.
Breakfast was served as à la carte buffet at 360 Rooftop restaurant from 7am to 11am. The restaurant offers a fantastic view of the ocean.
The hot food quality was good but pastries were cold and stale.
I had ordered an Americano but was given a Cappuccino instead. It’s perfectly acceptable to make human errors like that but when pointed out, the staff insisted that it was an Americano. I found it strange that an F&B staff couldn’t differentiate between the two types of coffee.

Bottom line
Other than the beautiful ocean view, this property was a disappointment. I was lucky to have gotten a huge discount with the Best Rate Guarantee. There is absolutely no way a night in this property is worth the pre-pandemic rate upwards of US$300.
