Aircrafts with this seat

This seat type can currently be found in some Japan Airlines Boeing 787-900 and 777-200s.

To find out if you will be flying in this seat, you may simply check the seat type on your Japan Airlines reservation. Another way is to check the seat map for a reverse herringbone arrangement like the image below.

Airport lounge

As Sakura Lounge is closed because of low passenger volume due to the pandemic, flying Business Class with Japan Airlines from Tokyo Narita International Airport currently gives you access to Japan Airlines First Class Lounge.

The seat

Reverse herringbone Business Class seats are one of my favourites as they are very practical and does now force the passenger to sleep at an awkward angle.

Unlike Qatar Airways’, Japan Airlines’ version of this seat offers much better privacy because of the side wall. Walking from the back of the cabin, it is very hard to spot any passenger.

The monitor is 17 inches in size.

Dining

The onboard meal was an absolute delight. I enjoyed it just as much as meals on Qatar Airways Business Class. Maybe even a little more! All meals came covered.

Service

Service was great throughout the flight, even though passenger-crew interactions are minimised.

Ratings (vs other Business Class seats)

Seat: 9/10
Dining: 10/10
Privacy: 8/10
Service: 9/10
Cleanliness: 9/10

Bottom line

Other than having to put on a mask for most of the flight, I did not experience much less than pre-COVID times. The amazing meal left me counting my blessings. It was a huge privilege to have experiences like these right now.

    • I’d pre-downloaded shows to watch on my laptop but had some time to browse the IFE before landing.

You’re right. Very little content like before.
