W Kuala Lumpur opened in mid 2018 and is located right in the heart of the city, across the street from the famous Petronas Twin Towers.

I had applied a Suite Night Award (SNA) to my stay and would have gotten the Marvelous Suite if it was successfully cleared. But to my surprise, I got pre-upgraded to the Wow Suite and the hotel did not even use my SNA! 🥰

Arrival

Upon arrival, I was assisted with my luggages and had my temperature taken before being guided to the lift to head to the reception on the 8th floor.

While the receptionist was processing my documents, the General Manager, Mr Metzner came to welcome me and confirmed my upgrade to the Wow Suite. I couldn’t thank him enough!

As a Titanium member, I was offered a welcome gift of either 1,000 points or a tumbler. As I am planning to live out of my suitcase for the next few months, I didn’t want to add more items into the luggage and opted for the points. The receptionist then said that she would give me both the points and the tumbler! I couldn’t say no to that. The tumbler looks great and I would have voluntarily picked it over 1,000 points if I had a permanent home to return to. It is now serving as a socks (unused) container in my luggage!

Shortly after that, I was offered welcome 𝚍̶𝚛̶𝚒̶𝚗̶𝚔̶𝚜̶ shots. I especially loved the one called “heart beat”.

Before heading up to my room, I requested for my Marriott eGiftCard to be be charged by that evening as I had a flight to catch the following day and wouldn’t like any delays during check out.

The room

I knew the Wow Suite was going to ‘wow’ me but….WOW WHEE! It felt like I had entered the lobby of another hotel! I have stayed in some huge suites in the past but room 2301 really got me suite-smiling.

Breakfast

Because of the pandemic, this hotel is only serving breakfasts directly to the rooms. You could probably tell from my review on my stay at Aloft Kuala Lumpur that I prefer my breakfast sent to my room, pandemic or not!

Platinum members and above get complimentary breakfast that covers 2 food items and 2 drinks per guest.

Wet Deck

Platinum members and above get 1 drink for each guest and canapes at Wet Deck at level 12 from 6.30 to 7.30pm.

I was very surprised that the staff at Wet Deck recognised my face and name even though we have never met! Some way, somehow, the team made that extra effort behind the scenes for that to happen. I am still really impressed!

As expected, the evening setting at Wet Deck was spectacular with the twin towers right in front of me.

The gym

The gym is located on the 12th floor. The towel counter is located inside the gym.

Bottom line

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The attention to detail and the extra mile put in by everyone working in this hotel made my experience really special. Besides the amazing service, I enjoyed my breakfast and loved the hardware/design in the room and around the property.

Although I had one heck of a deal with the BRG claim and enjoyed the really generous upgrade because of the low occupancy, I would definitely consider staying here again for more than what I paid this time. Even if you are not a W kinda person, I am sure that you will enjoy your stay like I did.
