Remember early January 2020? When we could all travel freely? Ahh, good times. Cathay Pacific Asia Miles ran a special promotion in that time, offering 10% bonus miles for credit cards points/miles transfers made in January 2020. Those bonus miles were supposed to appear in my account by mid-April but apparently credited on 13 March 2020. I only found this out when I received an Asia Miles Account Summary email today.
It was a strange situation for me as I had initiated a 70,000 miles transfer in late December 2019 (for Qatar Airways redemptions). Although it wasn’t posted by the new year, I wasn’t sure if Asia Miles would look at the transfer initiation date or crediting date. I went on to transfer more points to Asia Miles in early January.
Transfer 1
Initiated on: 29 Dec 2019
Posted on: 3 Jan 2020
Transfer 2
Initiated on: 12 Jan 2019
Posted on: 15 Jan 2020
10% bonus for both transfers
So, I received 10% bonus for both transfers. Yay! Activity dates are listed as 31 Jan 2020 but who cares?
I value Cathay Pacific Asia Miles at $0.018 each because it now has activity-based expiry. That’s $360 worth of bonus miles! Now, when can I start using them again?
